I was excited to be chosen by Fit Approach and Manitoba Harvest to review Hemp Hearts. I actually have tried them before, so I knew that I could recommend them without hesitation. My husband was a bit curious when he saw the package, but I assured him it is a nutritious food, not a dubious recreational substance! 😉
Hemp Hearts are a raw, non-GMO food with a slightly nutty taste, but they are soft, not crunchy. Their mild flavor and texture make them perfect for sprinkling on a variety of foods, to jack up their flavor and punch up their nutritional value.
Here are three ways I love Hemp Hearts:
I usually start my day with a fried egg and toast, and sprinkling Hemp Hearts on my toast takes that simple breakfast to the next level.
Toasting Hemp Hearts brings out their nutty flavor.
I have been loving Deb’s tomato soup recipe (I’ll share my variation soon!), and I found that topping a bowl with Hemp Hearts instead of croutons make it even more filling.
Hemp Hearts add protein and fiber to soup.
I try to have yogurt for a snack every day, and mixing in toppings keeps me from getting bored with it. The mild flavor of Hemp Hearts goes well in plain or vanilla yogurt.
Hemp Hearts jazz up plain yogurt.
I also enjoy Hemp Hearts in oatmeal, overnight oats, and in a crumb topping on muffins.

Have you tried Hemp Hearts?
What’s your favorite yogurt topping?
Okay, you are so creative, I never thing to add extra healthy stuff to soup and use it to top muffins. Now I’m waiting for you to share the soup recipe – I need to restock my freezer soup stash.
I never thought of adding them to soup (thanks for sharing my recipe 🙂 )I am also reviewing them and can’t believe I’ve never tried them before! Still trying to figure out what to do with them. I tasted them plain and think they are a lot like sunflower seed taste. My husband had the same reaction btw.
Guess what – I don’t think I’ve tasted them plain — off to try now!
I love hemp hearts! Love them in yogurt, on salads, I’ve even breaded chicken with it!
Oh, that’s a great idea. But, seriously, my husband is afraid to have them. 😉
I’ve never tried help seeds before. Sounds like an easy way to add some nutrition to a diet.
I have never tried Hemp Hearts. I will have to get on that!
I have never tried hemp hearts. I could see adding them to soup or salad for a bit of crunch:)
They aren’t that crunchy, unless you toast them, but they do add a nice flavor.
I have tried them and I love them! I usually put them in smoothies and on salads but I love the idea of topping toast with almond butter with some!
I had no idea that hemp hearts had so much protein and omega 3 and omega 6 in them. Now I’m super curious to try them out.
Love the 3 ideas you posted but you miss my favorite way. Right out of the bag, LOL. Thanks for taking the time to teach people the wonderful benefits of industrial hemp seeds.
PS Amazing Photos, look great on Pinterest.
I love hemp hearts! I like to eat them, along with fruit, with my (non-dairy) yogurt. And they’re great in salads too.
