April showers bring May flowers, so April goal-setting brings May race bling, right?
Before I share my April goals, I want need to review how I did with my March goals.
When I shared these goals, I said that I would be focusing on observing Lent and training for my spring races. I think we are about halfway through Lent, and I need to recommit myself to my Lenten practices. I’ve been pretty good about biting my tongue and not complaining about people, but I let my daily devotion time fall by the wayside last week. I did better keeping up with my training program, even though the weather did not make it easy!
On to April!
I feel like there are so many goals I want to set for April–I am ready to put this long winter behind me and turn over a new leaf. I know I will do better if I keep things simple, though, so I have narrowed it down to these four things.
- Observe Lent. I am recommitting to daily devotion time.
- Race happy. My two spring races are in April, on back-to-back weekends. First up is the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run April 6 and then the GW Parkway Classic April 13. My training has gone so well, I am tempted to set an aggressive goal for one of the races, but it also would be nice to relax and enjoy the scenery. No matter what, I want to cross both finish lines smiling.
- Ride my bike. I feel like it has been ages since I’ve been on my bike. I think we went on one short ride in March. I am ready to get back in the saddle and start building up to those long rides again.
- Move at work. Work has been crushingly busy lately, and I’ve been spending a ridiculous amount of time sitting in front of my computer screen. I need to get back in the habit of getting up from my desk and stretching my legs. Tomorrow is National Walking Day–the perfect day to get moving.
Have you set any goals for April?
Do you have any April Fool’s tricks planned for today?
my goal is to deliver baby itz as healthy and happy as possible! 🙂 🙂 last night my brother scraped the cream out of oreos and refilled them with toothpaste lol
I think that’s what we all want you to focus on for April! Wow, your brother is an industrious prankster!
Happy April Fools Day! My husband contemplated waking up DG this morning at 5:30 when he left for work with a complicated story of how we all overslept. But, he decided it was too mean as she can usually sleep until 7:30 on tuesdays and she needs all the sleep she can get. They both enjoy this day tremendously.
Good luck on your April goals! I have no advice on the back to back races, although I do agree that setting an ambitious goal for one of them might be worth a shot. Which one has better scenery? Shoot for your goal on the other one.
I hear you on not setting too many goals – great plan.
The problem is, they are my two favorite races! I will probably push it on the first one, since it’s first and flatter. 😉
I like your idea about April goal setting brings May bling!
I actually set some long-term goals today because I started working with an action coach in the hopes that I can learn some new ways to get our business going!!!
It was harder than I thought to set the goals and list the steps to reaching them.
Oh, that’s exciting! And, yes, goal-setting is hard!
So glad to hear that your training has been going well!!! I can’t believe that it’s April already. It’s crazy! I love your goals. I’m hoping just to keep putting one foot in front of the other. I would like to regain some balance in my life though. It’s felt a little nuts lately.
