I have a new secret weapon that helps me enjoy treadmill running and get through longer treadmill workouts.
After the holidays I treated myself to a new Kindle Fire HD. Yes, I can read on it, and check in on Facebook and Twitter, but I am most excited about using it to watch TV shows and movies on the treadmill.
There’s a decent library of free TV shows and movies on Amazon.com, and I have Amazon Prime which gives me access to a wider selection of freebies. It rests easily on my treadmill, so I can just plug in my earbuds, pick a show, and start running.
Two episodes of The Good Wife were just right the length to get me through 9 miles.
If you have a Kindle, do you use it mostly for reading?
What is your secret for enjoying the treadmill?
I LOOOOVE my ipad during cardio.
love love.
LOVE.
twitter fb itunes tv shows love 🙂
My first thought was “What’s new about this?”! I have been using my Fire and headphones for a long time., ever since I upgraded from my Walkman!! I only listen to music though, and read .. I love listening to music, (I don’t outside), and fast music seems the only way to get through the faster miles in my otherwise dreary basement.
I do have Amazon Prime though, so maybe I’ll reconsider for the slower miles…hmmmm
See, that was a new idea!
If I need to do anything over 6 miles I will watch my ipad…Netflix and Amazon 🙂
Oh! You got it! Yay! I think this is going to be the only thing on my Mothers’ Day wish list. Although then I’ll need a treadmill, too. 🙂
Hah! You could download shows and then take it to the gym, but don’t let that stop you from asking for a treadmill too! Sort of like when my husband had to buy a Tahoe to drive his new bike to the bike path ….. :-0
Love my iPad shows for treadmill runs. I tend to use the network apps to watch shows that I can’t DVR due to competing shows. For a long run I pick a movie on Amazon Prime.
Ooh, so there are apps for this too? Good to know!
I don’t have a kindle, but I’ve been eying one for a while now. I use my thousand year old original iPod when I use the treadmill. There is just something about Kanye “singing” Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger that gets me moving.
You just can’t beat that classic Kanye!
Hmmm, that’s a very good idea.
I haz no Kindle or treadmill. But if I duct tape my laptop to the TV and run in place, it’s basically the same thing.
😀 😀 😀 I need to remember not to try to read your comments when I’m in a meeting ….
I was really hoping you had a good secret to making it enjoyable. I have an iPad, but I can’t connect to any wifi at my gym, and don’t pay an extra fee on my mobile phone bill to get service to my iPad when I’m not on wifi.
I’ll go continue to hate treadmill running now 🙂
Can’t you download TV shoes/movies to your iPad at home and then watch at the gym? (how else could people use them on airplanes?)
I have a Nook for reading and an iPad for the rest but I don’t use it on the treadmill – I would probably fall off.
I couldn’t read on it, but it’s good for tv show watching.
Nine miles on the treadmill?! You are awesome!!
I usually watch something on Netflix with my ipad while on the treadmill.
I agree! Tablets make treadmills so much more bearable!
I wonder if there is so way to get free shows on my iPad? This would make treadmill running more bearable.
Honestly, there is nothing that can help me like the dreadmill. However, my Kindle Fire would certainly help. I’m a TV fiend and love my Amazon Prime and NetFlix to watch a whole slew of shows. I’m thrilled that Amazon Prime recently added all seasons of “The Shield” one of my favorite shows ever!
I’ve got a Nook, and I read while I bike! It’s so much lighter than taking a book (although I love real books more)…
I’ve gotten so used to reading on my iPhone or Kindle that I think I prefer it now.
