A Look At My Favorite Christmas Ornaments

We decorated our Christmas tree this weekend. I would say, “We finally decorated our Christmas tree this weekend,” but looking over my blog posts from past Decembers shows that we usually wait until mid-December. Now that we are back to having a green tree again, I really enjoy taking my time to decorate, and treasuring the memories associated with each ornament.

Christmas Ornaments

This is my favorite religious-themed ornament.

My Favorite Christmas Ornaments

It’s a simple nativity scene in plain porcelain.

This is my favorite non-religious-themed ornament.

My Favorite Christmas Ornaments

It’s a hand-blown glass ornament, and I can’t look at it without matching its smile.

This may be our oddest ornament.

My Favorite Christmas Ornaments

What says Christmas more than a cow wearing a tie and a jingle bell sash
with a candy cane in its mouth?

This is an ornament I made as a child.

My Favorite Christmas Ornaments

A plywood cut-out that has stood the test of time!

This is an ornament I remember having on our Christmas tree as a child.

My Favorite Christmas OrnamentsI think it’s made of woven straw–another simple design.

This year I decorated the tree without using any of our plain glass balls.

Christmas Tree 2013

It may not be as bright, but I think it has more character.

Do you have a favorite ornament?

Do you have any ornaments from your childhood?

It’s a homemade angel that was given to me when my daughter was born 27 years ago. She was in intensive care and I wasn’t sure I was going to get to bring home a daughter. But she survived and thrived and it has topped our tree every year since then.

I love the cow! We still have a lot of the really old decorations from when I was super broke (at the time, I was a single mom with 2 kids). I had the kids hand-make ornaments with cardboard and markers. Those are some of the best ornaments. Warms my heart to look at those ornaments each year as a reminder to how far God has brought me. It’s wonderful. HE is wonderful!

I love your tree and your favorite ornaments. The cow is awesome!!!
I don’t have any ornaments from growing up – not sure why since some of them were given to me – oh, well we started fresh as adults but our boys will have some to look back and remember Christmases from their childhood.

I don’t have any from my childhood…at least not on my tree 😉

We intended on getting our tree this weekend…we didn’t lol We’ll get it next weekend!

  8. I love all of your ornaments! We have accumulated most of our ornaments over the years and have a bunch from my childhood which I LOVE. That’s what I think makes the tree so special is that there is so much history and so many stories on that one tree. Love your snowman!
