Holiday Gift Guide For Fitness Enthusiasts

Did you see my Holiday Gift Guide for Runners? While I love to run, I know running isn’t for everyone, so I put together a more general holiday gift guide for all fitness enthusiasts.

This time, I’m ranking the gift ideas by general price range, from $5-$150.

1. iTunes or Google Play Gift Card ($5-20). Santa always leaves iTunes gift cards in our stockings. My kids use theirs for games and in-app purchases, while I usually use mine to create a fresh playlist. Whether your fitness enthusiast wants new songs to power through a great workout or a new fitness app for tracking, motivation, or training, an iTunes (or Google Play) gift card can’t go wrong.

2. Earbuds ($20-30). Fitness enthusiasts always are in search of the perfect earbuds. Will they stay in? Will they withstand sweaty workouts? Will they sound good? The Koss
Fit Series earbuds may be the final answer, especially for women, because Koss’ female designers teamed-up with Gold Medalist Dara Torres to create the world’s first headphones designed specifically for women, by women.

They come in two models:Koss FitBuds

The FitBuds are 33% smaller than any earbud Koss has ever created, sweat resistant, and come with three different sizes of ear cushions for the perfect fit.

Koss FitClips

The FitClips will not fall out, are sweat resistant, and also come with three different sizes of ear cushions for the perfect fit. I usually don’t like this style of earbud because I wear glasses, but these were easy to put on and so comfortable I could forget about them.

Both usually sell for $29.99, but these retailers may be offering special pricing ($19.99) during the holiday season:

Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Walgreens, Kmart, Sears

3. Athletic store gift card ($50-100). Some people think giving gift cards is taking the easy way out, but I always appreciate a gift card from one of my favorite stores. With a gift card I can select the style and color I like best and get the right size without having to write out a detailed wish list or send my husband links to the exact items I want–yes, we’ve done this!

4.  Personal activity tracker ($100-150). There are lots of these to choose from now. The Jawbone UP®, the Fitbit® Force, the Nike Fuelband, the Polar Loop, the Under Armour A39. They all track activity (steps) and most also track sleep, but they have different bells and whistles. Performance managers will tell you that “what gets measured gets done” and it is amazing to see how motivating it is to be tracking your activity. Everyone who has one of these devices seems to be going out of their way (literally!) to reach their activity goals.

Holiday Gift Guide For RunnersI got the Jawbone UP® for my birthday, and I’ll be writing more about it soon. 😉

5. Spa gift certificate ($100-200). Every fitness enthusiast needs a good massage. Or a manicure. Or a pedicure. Or the whole package. Even in the winter I might expose my toes in the locker room, so they need to be presentable!

Happy Toes
