Blogging And Social Media
For Fitness And Health Communities
My work travel schedule for October looks like this:
That doesn’t even tell the whole story, because it doesn’t show the conferences that I am speaking at in Washington, D.C. on October 3 (before I dash to the airport to catch my flight to Chicago) and October 24 (before I collapse!), or the dinner meetings that crowd my few evenings at home. 🙁
But, the next trip on my calendar is to Boulder and Denver to attend the FitSocial 2013 Conference this weekend. 🙂
I love Boulder.
I am saddened by the recent flooding, and wonder if I will be able to run along the Boulder Creek Path, but I know that at least the mountain views will still be there.
And, of course, I’m excited about meeting other bloggers and learning about blogging, social media, and recent trends in health and fitness. Here is an overview of the agenda:
On Friday, the conference is held at the Millennium Hotel in Boulder. Although the conference program doesn’t really start until the afternoon, there is a Vinyasa Flow yoga class offered in the morning. In the afternoon there are two sessions with parallel breakout sessions to choose from:
Session I
- Building Your Brand and Monetizing Your Fitness Expertise (with the wonderful ladies from Fun and Fit)
- Blog Bootcamp: Get Your Blog in Shape in 50 Minutes
- Overview of Social Media: How and When to Use Twitter, Facebook, and Other Social Media Platforms
Session II
- SEO for Websites and Blogs
- Succeeding with YouTube
- Creating an E-Book to Build Your Brand
To counteract all that sitting and learning, there is a High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) exercise class before dinner. 😛
On Saturday, the conference moves to the Anschutz Center in Denver. Saturday morning the program includes a lecture (“Alternative Medicine – Fact or Fiction?”) and a Physical Fitness Lab Demonstration. Saturday afternoon brings more blogging sessions (Social Media in the Fitness World, Communication of Evidence-Based Health and Wellness Information), and another round of exercise classes (Tabata Cycle, Zumba, and Barre Conditioning.)
Sunday morning starts with another exercise class, and then there is a keynote speaker, and cooking demonstration before the conference wraps up.
I love that this conference has both blogging/social media sessions and educational health/fitness sessions, with organized fitness classes every day. It will be hard to choose among the different parallel breakout sessions, but I’m sure I will learn something no matter which ones I attend.
If you are local to the Denver area, it’s not too late to register. If you happen to be a Colorado-based member of the fitness industry, you can even attend the Friday sessions at no cost, if your application for the Local Trade Day pass is approved. (I am attending on a blogger pass, at a discounted rate in exchange for blogging about the event.)
Is there a place away from home that has captured your heart?
Have you been to a blogging conference?

I’ve never been to a blogging conference but I would love to! Some day soon I’m sure 🙂
Enjoy your time! Looking forward to the recap(s)!
I still haven’t been to a blogging conference but I’m going to have to do one this year because it is one of the things on my list!!
Yay! I hope it’s one I can get to too. 😉
That looks like a great agenda! Have a fabulous time! Wish I could be there. Say hi to Kymberly and Alexandra for me!
Absolutely!
Ah! I had no idea that there was a fitness social media conference in Boulder this weekend! Fun. I may have to check it out 🙂 We were planning a hiking trip to leave Fri afternoon though.
I hate to say that many parts of the Boulder Creek path are gone or closed off. It is sad. But there are other places on the path that can be run, depending on when you get on and off the path.
I went to CU- Boulder 🙂
So I won tickets to this event actually, however, I won them last week… And, well, the tickets to fly to CO were just so expensive and then hotels were expensive and/or booked because of this event… SO I can’t go. SO CLOSE YET SO FAR! I wish I won these tickets a few weeks earlier! I am so bummed. However, I EXPECT you to take DETAILED notes and let us ALL KNOW how it went! LOL!
Aw, you could have roomed with me!
