Three Things Thursday (The Toast Edition)

Toast. It’s such a simple thing. But my toast-making has become quite a process.
Ever since we stayed with my Mom during our power outage,
I have been hooked on Pepperidge Farm® whole grain oatmeal bread,
so I start with that.

Then I add a schmear of a buttery spread.

Then I sprinkle on some milled flax seeds.

I top it all off with a generous shake of cinnamon.

Finally ready for the toaster!

Did you read the book Making Toast by Roger Rosenblatt?
From the synopsis I thought it had great promise, but it never captured my interest.
I can’t even remember if I finished it!

Do you know where I might have gotten those Flax Paks?
I am out and can’t find them at my regular grocery store or Trader Joe’s. 🙁

What do you put on your toast?

  1. I've actually seen the flax packs at my local kroger…tried there?

  2. Christine says:

I've never seen those Flax Paks and they look so convenient! I will have to look for those

  3. Heather Iacobacci (@ says:

I've never seen flax paks. I always just liked strawberry jam – no butter, just the jam.

  4. Carrie says:

I used to live near a bakery when I was in high school. We would drive by and smell the bread baking and I'd go home and eat toast. Love it! My favorite way is smeared with peanut butter. YUM!

  5. Kierston says:

I've never seen Flax Pax b4!

  6. Never seen the flax packs but what a great idea. The big packs that I always find are hard to use fast enough before it goes kind of off.

I keep my bigger bag in the freezer, but it is still an intimidating amount of ground flax!

Hey, I have a question for you. Do you use a software program to make the motivational "posters" you use in your posts? I can find ones where you can add quotes to pictures, but I want to make ones without pictures – just a plain or stock background. Any ideas?

      Thanks!

      • I either use my own photos (like the shoes in the "One Step" quote I did) or I download Stock Photos from 123rf.com – which do cost money though (will write it off and about $1 per image which is worth it to me). Then I use Picasa to edit them and add the text and things. I download fonts from 1001freefonts.com to use with Picasa as well. Hope that helps!

I got one of those flax packs in my Foodie PenPal package but I didn't know what to use it on! Now I have an idea! Thanks! (:

  8. TriGirl says:

I feel like all that deliciousness might work even on gluten-free toast!

  9. I like the size of those packs — what about Whole Foods? I'll have to look next time I'm in there. I usually put almond butter and honey on my toast.
