My mornng routine was empty and lonely this morning. Sally has been a part of it for the past 12 years–making sure I didn’t oversleep her bladder, feeding her breakfast, putting her outside or taking her for a walk. ~sigh~
Because of my son’s school schedule today, I needed to be done with my workout at 6:15. I decided that I could squeeze in an outdoor run if I did not hit snooze or check Twitter or Facebook before heading out. True to my plan, I got up when my alarm went off at 5:00 and was out the door at 5:15.
Factoring in the time for a short warm-up and cool down, I knew I didn’t have time for 6 miles, but I was hoping to fit in 5. My usual neighborhood loops are around 4 miles, so I had to add an extra bit on the end to make it 5. Aside from running out of sidewalk at one point, it worked out perfectly.
My pace was good, averaging a bit under 10:00 min miles over the whole route, with the flat miles well under that. I don’t know if its my training or the cooler weather that is improving my time–maybe a bit of both.
