Cycling Heart Rate Versus Running Heart Rate

I didn’t get very far with any of the heart rate training approaches to running, and now that I’m trading in my Garmin 225 with wrist-based heart rate monitoring (let me know if you’re interested — I’ll make a deal!) for the Garmin Vivoactive with no heart rate monitor, I guess I’m all but giving up on heart rate training. Still, I’m interested in seeing how hard my heart is working during different activities, and especially my cycling heart rate versus running heart rate. Cycling Heart Rate versus Running Heart Rate

Here’s my heart rate during a typical indoor cycling class: Continue reading

Walking That Fine Line Between Fear and Injury

Happy Fourth of July!

Right now it looks like the rain may put a damper on our holiday plans, but we are still hoping to grill up a feast and catch a glimpse of the fireworks, which usually go on (or go off?) rain or shine.

Wrapping Up June 2016 Garmin Data

Since last week was the last week of June, I’ve seen people tallying their monthly and half-yearly mileage. This Garmin snapshot misses the first few days of June, includes my first run of July, and doesn’t include the 2+ miles I ran every Monday at Orange Theory Fitness, so I figure I ran 70+ miles in June. Favorite Summer RunChatHunt Finds

According to my Garmin data, I ran 68 miles in June, not including the 2+ miles I ran each Monday during my Orange Theory Fitness classes. The weather ranged from gloriously cool to oppressively humid, but all in all it was a good month for running. Since I don’t have any races on my calendar until September–I still haven’t committed to a July 4th race!–to the main purpose of my runs was to find items for the RunChatHunt scavenger hunt.

Fun At The Harbor With Fit Plus Harbor East

I always say the best thing about blogging is the friends I’ve made, and this weekend I got to see Margarita who was my roommate at FitSocial a few years ago (time really flies!) and Mar whom I first got to know through the Friday Five Link Up, when we met up at the Baltimore Inner Harbor for the Fit Plus Harbor East fitness festival.

Fit Plus Harbor East Baltimore

I heard about the event from Margarita, but Mar heard about it from Lauren–who was one of the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run bloggers with me this year. It’s so great to have a network of fitness-minded friends who spread the word about fun things like this! Continue reading
