I know fall only started on Friday, but last weekend kicked off my frantic fall schedule. As you know from last week’s recap, I was in Colorado visiting my daughter on Saturday and then headed to San Francisco for a conference that began on Sunday. I got back home late Tuesday night, and ran my first fall race on Sunday!
Even if you aren’t a Christian, you probably have heard of the hymn with the lyrics “They will know we are Christians by our love ….” It’s a hymn that’s ingrained in my psyche–I probably learned it in Sunday School and sang it many times at summer camp.
Can you blame Denver Water for emphasizing that Gross Reservoir is named after “former Chief Engineer Dwight D. Gross”? I hate to be so immature, but it is an unfortunate name for a reservoir! If you ever visit, though, you will know it is gorgeous, not gross.
A few weeks ago our Old Testament reading told the story of Moses and the Burning Bush. It’s one of those stories I think I know so well, but am still able to find new meaning–and hear a new message–when I listen to it again. This time, I realized the God may ignite burning bushes along my path when he wants to get my attention and call on me to take action.
The first week of September was a rough one. Just as friends in the Houston area were getting a handle on the aftermath of Harvey, friends in Florida were eyeing Irma and making the difficult decision to evacuate or hunker down. In the meantime, we had gorgeous fall weather in D.C. as everyone headed back to school and work shifted into high gear.
