Gratefully Runfessing

Happy Black Friday! It’s a special day when I gratefully share my runfessions. Join me over at Marcia’s Healthy Slice where we can all cleanse our souls soles and get a fresh start for December.

You also may be joining the Fit Five Friday Link-Up with DarleneMichelle, Renée, Jenn, and Zenaida.

Gratefully Runfessiong

Looking back at last year’s Black Friday runfessions, I gratefully runfess I sometimes forget I was plagued by a hamstring injury for most of 2023. I am truly grateful to be running essentially pain-free these days, although I am still wary of long distances and racing. I am grateful I found an orthopedist to do shockwave therapy on my hamstring, and grateful it worked. It still nags a bit from time to time, but more often from sitting too much at my computer than running.

This year’s easy pumpkin and pain-in-the-ass apple pie!

Speaking of running, I runfess I used to plan a long run on Thanksgiving morning to “earn” my calories, and then switched to Black Friday long runs to burn them off, but I’m gratefully no longer worried about those numbers. This year I spent Thanksgiving morning baking pie and I plan to hit up a Black Friday sale at my local running store early this morning. I did take Peloton’s live 45 min Thanksgiving Feast strength class while my pumpkin pie was baking—and got in extra stair intervals checking on it in between AMRAP blocks. 😋

Over 10,000 people joined live!

Speaking of Black Friday sales, I runfess I shopped Athleta’s “early Black Friday sale” twice. Once on my birthday with my birthday coupon and again this week to buy the same items in different colors because I liked them so much. 🤷‍♀️

Speaking of sales, I runfess the Costco deal on the Peloton Bike+ may finally get me to give up my “app only” status. It’s under $2K including the extended warranty, which is almost 1/3 the usual price. I’m not sure I’ll get enough “more” out of it to make the higher membership fee “worth it” but there are worse things I could ask my husband to spend money on for me for Christmas. 🤭

Extra thanks to Kim for putting this collage together!

I gratefully runfess that I am glad to know each and every one of you — you motivate and inspire me more than you will ever know, and I am very thankful this fitness blogging thing brought us together. Whether I’ve met you in person or not, I count you as a friend. (I’ve runfessed this before, but it bears repeating!)

Do you have any grateful runfessions?

Are there any Black Friday sales you’ve already taken advantage of?

You spend so much time doing the Peloton workouts you might as well get that bike and the higher membership fee!
Good to see the PIA apple pie again! 😂

  2. Marcia says:

Your pies are magnificent, as always! Glad the hammy issues are in the rearview for you. I still get twinges from mine and it’s been years and years. I’m grateful to know you as well! Happy Thanksgiving!

So happy to read that you are running again.

I didn’t run yesterday for the first it me ever… and I ate just as much… OOPs.

I have to work today all day and then host mah jongg… so NO shopping time… maybe that’s a good thing.

Congrats on your new bike. You deserve it… you are so loyal to Peleton.

  4. Michelle says:

    Yay for pain-free running!

That Athleta sale was pretty sweet – definitely hard to resist!

Well you know I’m going to say get the bike, right? 😉

  5. Jenny says:

Yes- it all it takes is an injury (or in my case, several injuries) to make you grateful for every single run! Your pies look amazing (how do you get the top of your pumpkin pie so smooth? Mine always crack.)
I say get the Peloton bike! You’ll love it.
I didn’t link up for Runfessions today, but I had to stop by and see what everyone is up to. And VERY grateful for all my blogging friends!

  6. At this point, I say go for it with the bike! I will be doing that class at some point this weekend. I also chose a strength class yesterday instead of running and finally not feeling I need to earn my calories. Happy Thanksgiving

Get the bike! You are so dedicated to the app and that price is amazing!

I’m so glad you’re feeling better, and I would absolutely take a piece of that pie!
