Back To The Grind

I thought August was supposed to be a slow time at work, but some urgent projects popped up that had me working in overdrive from the moment we got home from Colorada—even before I picked up Scooby! 😱

At least they were interesting and my clients were appreciative.

Back To The Grind

Another thing that was back this week was the humidity. I knew our amazing weather wouldn’t last! That meant only one run with Scooby (on Monday) and a lot of time in my basement gym.

5.6 miles before work on Monday

I’m going to continue highlighting a few of my Peloton classes instead of recapping all my Peloton workouts. I will say I’m up to an 1875 day streak!

I rarely take any live classes, but this week I did two live classes with Camilla.

Sunday I took a break from work to hop on a live 2:00 pm class for my 800th ride.

A really fun playlist!

By Thursday I had wrapped up my projects, so instead of still being at the office at 7 pm I was able to hop on my bike for Camilla’s Sean Paul class. I knew she would have fun with the music and her high energy translated into a a personal (output) record for me.

I bookmarked two of the strength classes I took to keep in regular rotation because they paired so well (on separate day).

This class had two blocks with different tri sets—basically supersets with 3 moves—plus a one minute push-up finisher that definitely finished me!

This class also had two block of tri sets . I subbed the 90 second jump squat finisher for step-ups, which were much more in line with what my body needs.

On Saturday I took a hot yoga class with my favorite Corepower Yoga instructor. The Ballston studio where she teaches has infrared heating, so you get warm without the air around you feeling warm. Dont get me wrong, I still get sweaty!

If you can’t beat the heat, succumb to it!

I’ve got 12 classes to use up by early November, so I’m going to be more intentional about getting to the studio

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Have you used an IR sauna?

August and September are crunch time in pediatrics, with school physical deadlines looming. I cannot wait until cold and flu season–lol.

Like you, leaning into my workouts to keep me sane!

  2. Jenny says:

The thought of a sauna, or hot yoga, makes me very angry- my heat tolerance is not what it used to be. But I’m glad it’s working for you! Hope you get a break from work, and the crazy humidity this week. Scooby is probably looking forward to getting back out there!

  3. Melissa says:

I’ve never used an IR sauna! It sounds so interesting. I kind of enjoy sauna because I do love the heat. But I’m never into a cold plunge! My husband and I have some friends that love to do sauna and then cold front. I hate being cold and especially cold water so it’s not my thing.

  4. Wow I can’t believe you went to core power in this weather! It’s been so hot and humid.I’ve never tried any of Camilla’s classes. If you are looking for something efficient and new-check out Rebecca’s new 5 day express.

  5. That Rising Rock Glutes & Legs class looks interesting! I need to bookmark it NOW, so I won’t have to search for it when I’m short on time. Great workouts this week, Coco!

  6. Jenn says:

Hot yoga takes me right out! I’m so amazed by anyone who can manage it!

I’m sorry you had to jump back into work so quickly. That’s never fun.

Great class selection this week! I would also opt for step ups instead of anything jumping.

  7. Debbie says:

The weather seemed extra gross after the wonderful break from the heat and humidity we had the previous week. That’s funny what you said about succumbing to the heat in your hot yoga class. 🙂

So sorry you’re not getting a little bit of a break during August like you’d hoped. At least as you mentioned your clients were grateful and the work was interesting. Hope it lightens up these last two weeks.

  8. Catrina says:

Wow, Coco – straight from mountain waterfalls to workplace overdrive! At least it sounds like your projects were rewarding, even if the timing wasn’t.

I love how you swap out finishers to fit your body’s needs – step-ups instead of jump squats is genius. And hot yoga with infrared heat? That sounds like the best possible way to “lean in” to August humidity.

  9. Jessie says:

August is meant to be quiet in finance/alternative investments, but I’ve been swamped…nervous about taking the week in Minneapolis…

At least its been interesting work for you and it helps when people are appreciative!

I’m sure Scooby was happy to see you! Do you board him or have him stay with a friend?

  10. Very interesting about the infrared heat. I get claustrophobic being in sauna’s with that humid heat (feels like I can’t breath!) so I’ve always wondered about how a hot class would feel. Bummer about the busy work situation – back to the grind, ugh!
