Still A Sweaty Mess

It feels unfair to Mother Nature to complain about the weather when we did have a few nice days this week, but I’m writing this on Saturday after my oppressive walk with Scooby had me heading down to my basement gym to run on my tread. At least being a sweaty mess is better than being a hot mess, but I’ve been there too. 😉

I’ve got A/C and a fan on me but still sweat this much 😝

Still A Sweaty Mess

I’m not gonna lie, I am really tired of still being sweaty after my post-workout shower. I’ve even started rinsing off with cold water 🥶 but by the time I towel off I feel slimy again. It doesn’t help that I have to blow dry my hair. I obviously should take more time to cool down before I hop in the shower, but I’d have to think of that when my alarm goes off and not hit the snooze button. 🫣

I do enjoy my sweaty workouts in the moment and did some solid ones this week thanks to my Peloton bike and Landice tread.

I did my toughest bike workout on Sunday afternoon—a 45 min HIIT + Hills ride with Hannah F. Her coaching was fantastic as usual. I love how she looked me in the eyes and said, “This isn’t going to be easy, Babe, but you’re going to do it.”

The graphs for intervals rides are always fun.

Between the stack of strength classes I did before church, and the warm-up, cool-down and stretch I did after that ride, I took a lot of classes on Sunday with a lot of badges.

That gold star was the personal record I earned in that ride.

Since I had slogged through a tough run on Saturday and PR’d that ride on Sunday, I decided to give my legs a break on Monday.

We got our break in the weather Tuesday morning. Perhaps coincidentally I was working at home, so I had time for a 6 mile run (after walking Scooby). It felt much better than last weekend’s run.

Wednesday I did a full body strenght workout with Jess Sims, and then hopped on my Peloton for a 20 min climb ride with Hannah F.

Thursday I warmed up with a bodyweight class with Joslyn that had a lot of plank variations—phew! Hannah’s HIIT run was tough but I was impressed with the paces I could hit with no complaints from my legs. 😎

Friday I opted for an upper body strength class and then paired a shorter Hannah F. ride with a Lanebreak ride.

Saturday after walking Scooby outside I logged 5 miles on my treadmill with Jon Hosking. The programming made for a solid run that would be great for race training:  4 blocks with long intervals at “moderate” pace interspersed with 1 minute intervals at “challenging” or “hard” pace, with 1 minute recoveries between blocks.

Plus I always love a 90s playlist

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

This summer has been ROUGH regarding the weather! Of course, come winter, we’ll be wishing for this lol. I’m glad to see you got all your workouts in regardless.

Nice job on working around the humidity to get your workouts in, even if it meant running in the basement on the treadmill.

This morning’s humidity is over the top after last night’s storms. I got acclimated to very low humidity out west so this has been a very rude awakening for me. LOL

Oh yes- the post-shower sweating is definitely a thing. I try to do everything I can think of before I get in the shower- this morning I got back from my run. I made my breakfast and tea, fed the cats, cut up fruit for the kids… THEN I got in the shower. And when I got out I was still sweating, lol. I tried.
I’m glad Scooby is feeling better. When is he going to be able to run again?
Nice job on all the workouts- sounds like you had some challenging (but rewarding) ones!

  4. Would not peg you for a dance pop class! Sounds like I picked a great week to be out of town. I am so over this heat and humidity stay cool

That “sweaty mess vs. hot mess” line deserves its own T-shirt! 😅

You will not believe it, but yesterday morning I passed a woman in GLOVES while I was out on a run. We’ve been having such cool and rainy weather, I wouldn’t mind a bit of a sunny spell – I think I’d even take humidity! 😂

  6. Total agreement, the post-shower “continued” sweating is annoying. Look at all those badges! Great job on your active week 😉

I know the feeling of still sweating after a shower! But you even have A/C, we do not!

Well done on all those classes!

That’s a great week of workouts despite the heat and humidity! Nice for you to have the basement gym. Is Scooby back to normal now?
A workout focused on plank variations would be fun!

Ha, I’ve tried to take a few cold showers to prevent the post-shower sweating but it doesn’t help. I hate the cold water, and then I immediately typically dry my hair/get ready for work after my showers so I start sweating again. Nice job this week despite the weather!! I may need to get back to the treadmill more if it stays this hot – but I prefer it outside!

  10. When I have time I hop into our pool after a run. It’s refreshing! And usually done in my full running clothes. I always need to do a check first to make sure I don’t have my phone in my pocket and my headphones on!!
Let’s hope this humidity clears up for all of us. I hate feeling so sweaty and sticky!

    Nice workouts!

    How’s Scooby feeling?

I love a hot shower so much, and it’s just so miserable to have to feel sweaty afterwards. It’s just always sweaty and I hate it.

I actually went in our hot tub today after my run… 103 degrees felt cool. LOL

This has been a rough summer.
