It was one of those weeks when I had a multi-city itinerary with meetings in Detroit on Monday and in Boston on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.

I was fascinated by this live airplane map at Logan airport

Monday I had a morning flight to Detroit, but got up early enough to walk Scooby and did a lot of walking in Detroit getting from the American Airlines terminal to the Delta terminal to meet up with a colleague.

It was my first visit to our Detroit office, and I loved the view across the river to Canada.

Colleagues warned us not to risk a swim across—the current is deadly.

They put us up at a posh establishment with a membership-type gym that was pretty busy at 6 am on Tuesday. There were plenty of treadmills, but I was saving my running for Boston. I did a 20 min Peloton hike to wake up and warm up and then found a corner to do a few Peloton strength classes.

Trying to give you an idea of the size.
There are squash courts behind me.
The treads are by the far wall of windows.

Tuesday was a long day with a morning flight to Boston, two afternoon meetings, and an evening reception, but when my alarm went off at 5 am Wednesday morning and I saw it wasn’t raining, I got up to head out for a run. I did my usual route from my hotel, down Commonwealth Avenue and through the Public Gardens and Boston Common and back—about 5 miles.

Thursday started off grey again, but the rain mostly held off for another 5 mile run—this time along the Charles River.

After one flight cancellation and many delays, I got home just before midnight. Friday I was working from home with a light schedule, so I let my self sleep in before taking Scooby out and heading to my basement gym. I did my first core workout since Sunday and took Cody’s original Britney Spears Ride—it felt good to sweat in the privacy of my own home

Peloton is being clever with this badge—it’s an incentive to take his class from 2020 to make it the most popular ride again. ☺️

Saturday I dropped my husband off at DCA for an early flight to visit his Mom, and drove to a park near the airport for a run into D.C. It was getting warm, but not humid yet, so the shady portions of my route were quite pleasant.

The Tidal Basin was so still!

That might be my last outdoor run for a while—the weather’s not looking good for Scooby miles this week—I’ll be glad for my air-conditioned basement gym!

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Has your weather hit 100°F yet this year?

Your week was busy!! Travelling for work is exhausting – I’m always impressed how you manage to stick to your fitness schedule.
I love your run around Boston! I missed all that when I was there in April – looks like I need to go back, ha!

  2. Way to keep up your activity with all of your travel. Last week’s weather was so gross and this week is looking challenging as well. I will also be enjoying my air conditioned gym!

  3. We’re currently “enjoying” those triple-digit feels-like conditions in Iowa. I can tolerate them fairly well, but they did arrive rather quickly. A little bit of an acclimation would have been appreciated, LOL.

Yeah, Florida doesn’t seem so bad right now- I guess it’s hot and gross everywhere! Glad you got some nice runs in last week, because this week it sounds like you’ll be on the treadmill. I’ve been doing some treadmill running myself and appreciating the AC!

  5. Busy week of traveling for you! Running in the town of Boston is the best. So many cool things to see.

  6. Melissa says:

What a whirlwind of a week – but great job getting in all those runs even while traveling! I love Boston and love all the running you got to do there. Stay cool this week!

  7. Wendy says:

Wow, so much traveling! I don’t know how you get it all in.

Ugh that weather. We are having extraordinarily hot weather right now too! Stay cool!

  8. Debbie says:

Sounds like an exhausting week of work travel for you, yet you still managed to fit in your workouts. You were lucky to miss most of the crappy weather in the early part of the week, but I hear it’s going to be hot and gross there this week. It will be hot in southern Utah where we’ll be, but at least the humidity will be really low.

What a week of travel and excitement!

I love that you are always able to find time to fit in your different workouts in different cities.

No Scooby Miles? ?? Boo. But I am sure it’s way too hot for that sweet boy. We are close to triple digits here and will probably hit it by the end of the week.

You are ping ponging all over. Where’s Coco!
Loved your Boston runs and so glad you got home safely

  11. Oh my gosh those temps! That looks brutal! We were getting pretty close to that in MN this weekend and if was not fun. Thank goodness for peleton workouts!
