Well, I made it to my favorite time of year. My house is full with family and cluttered with post-Christmas chaos, work emails can be ignored, and my days have just the right balance between not-quite lazy but far from over-scheduled. I really am enjoying the holidays.

Enjoying The Holidays
Since folks may be committed to their healthy eating plans by the time we gather for the January 2025 ultimate date on Friday, I’ll tell you about my Christmas pies today. My family let me off the hook from making that apple pie again, which left me time to try a new recipe—for whole cranberry pie.
The ingredients were very similar to my Mom’s whole cranberry relish recipe, but you cook them on the stove longer, and then bake them in a hot oven. I also made a traditional pumpkin pie—a truly easy recipe for a change!
The weather cooperated for a few runs with Scooby, including on Christmas morning.
I’m enjoying my neighbor’s holiday lights while I still can!
Peloton released a lot of holiday classes, including some with eclectic playlists that are fun for a change—Marcel’s run with Big Freedia was quite a contrast to Jon’s walk with Michael Buble. I really enjoyed Robin’s Hanukkah run too.
I’ve also been taking classes from Peloton’s new Strength for Skiers program—it has 2 different warm-ups, 2 mobility-focused classes, 3 strength classes (1 body weight), and 2 stretches. It’s taught by both Andy and Matt, with Andy being the strength coach and Matt the avid skier.
I couldn’t wait for a live class to take my 3000th strength class, so I took it with Andy and Matt.
A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up week in and week out throughout the year, and to each of you for stopping by.
What’s your favorite thing to do this time of year?
3000 wow
We so enjoyed your Christmas cookies. Finished one on the drive up here yesterday. Not sure about cranberry pie though!
It pairs well with ice cream!
Yum, those cookies look great! I love Christmas cookies! And strength for skiers is such a good idea- I love how specialized it is!
I can’t wait to jump into the ski program as well! Congrats on 3000 classes! Looks like your week was a great mix of family and fitness. Happy and merry to you
I’m so glad you’re able to enjoy the holidays! You were working so hard leading up to it, I’m sure it’s amazing to be able to relax a little.
Your cookies look delicious- and how did that cranberry pie come out??? I made a cranberry-apple pie for Thanksgiving but never a whole cranberry one.
Enjoy this time “between the years”!
That cranberry pie sounds delish! I’ve thought about checking out the ski classes for mobility purposes (I have zero interest in skiing, LOL). I’m so glad you were able to snag some relaxation time 😉
The classes are great for runners too!
Congrats on your 3,000th Peloton strength class!
It’s so good to hear that work emails can take a back seat for a few days so you can enjoy the holidays! I love the down days between Christmas and New Year’s Day; although, it’s back to clients for me tomorrow.
Those cookies were yummy and the pie looks delish!
Seeing friends and family is my favorite thing to do!!
I also have no interest in skiing since I’d probably fall and break something.
It’s so wonderful that you can finally take a breather, Coco! Enjoy every moment and soak it all in—you’ve earned it.
Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could stretch that downtime for just a few more weeks?
Here’s hoping your January starts off nice and easy, without the whirlwind of stress you’ve been juggling these past months.
Thanks! The way the holiday falls, I will get to ease back in this week before things get hectic on the 6th!
Hmmm, a Peloton strength for skiers program? That’s right up my alley. How ironic that I started my pre-ski workout this week! Hopefully those skater moves won’t leave me too sore!
SJ used to have me do those skaters lunges and other similar movements. It’s all about agility and training muscles we don’t normally train. Sounds like a great class!
I was fortunate to have a few days off this past week but I do have to work next week. Most of my time was spent getting ready for Christmas and then cleaning up after, lol
I made a cranberry pie one year, and it was so yummy. It’s hard to make new things when the traditional things are so good! Your cookies are gorgeous and I bet delicious!
3000 is amazing!
And I love that you and Scooby are able to enjoy all the holiday lights!
Happy holidays! Your pie sounds delicious. What a talented chef you are!
