9 Marvelous Miles

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve made it over to the bike path for a run. It is such a great place to run because the path is varied (some flat miles, some hilly miles), mostly shady, and busy with runners but not too many bicyclists or roller bladers that increase the risk of a collision.

It was perfect “fall” running weather–even a bit cooler than usual for mid-September. Everything felt good, so I decided on my “new” 9 mile route instead of my usual 8 mile route.

I finished my first mile at 10:20, did the next three at about 10:00, the next at 9:40, the next at 10:00 and the last three at 9:45 or less. I was trying to stick to a 10:00-ish pace, but the cool weather made the faster pace feel right.

There are four more weekends between now and the Army Ten Miler, but only one when I will have time for a run on the bike path again.

I capped off my run with some stretching and then a stop at Starbucks.

The rest of my day was blissfully unstructured. I chatted with some friends, read outside on the patio and took a solid 90 minute nap!
