Working And Working Out In D.C.

This week I was back in D.C. for a hectic week of work. It was busy in a good way, but didn’t leave much time for anything else. I managed to eat dinner with my husband once, but afterwards had to finish a project before logging off for the day.

Working and Working Out in D.C.

I started the week feeling really worn down from the events of the world, and decided to turn off my alarm and sleep in on Sunday. I think it was 7:20 before Scooby finally nudged me out of bed! I kept the easy vibe going with a few “light” strength workouts and a fun ride with Matt Wilpers.

My Peloton highlight of the week was finishing the Pump Up The Volume 5 strength program. I definitely went heavy in JJ’s upper body class, but took Jess’s advice to put my ego aside and stuck with moderate weights in her lower body class—my lunges form really suffers when I go up in weights.

I did one outdoor run with Scooby— 4.1 miles on Wednesday.

Hard to believe I needed my headlamp at the start.

Saturday I dropped my husband off at the airport at 6:30 am and went for a run from a nearby park into D.C. I know it was early, but I was surprised to have so many landmarks almost to myself.

Lots to ponder here.

A different view of the Lincoln Memorial than usual.

I hope my bright outfit made someone smile.

I signed up for the Summit Stages challenge with my Breakthrough crew team,  and figured I could squeeze in a 10K run and 31K ride (half metric century) over the weekend. After my run I decided to do CDE’s recent 60 min hill ride to knock out some cycling miles—after coffee, breakfast, and a change into fresh clothes.

It was tough, but I should be able to complete my pledged miles
before church Sunday.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

I love how you balanced such a hectic work week with a mix of strong workouts and Scooby miles. That early run into D.C. looks magical, I love that quote on the memorial!
Where is your husband off to?

  3. I agree with the now dark early mornings. It was only a few weeks ago I had the start of a sunrise when my 4:45AM runs were ending…that ain’t the shorty any more. At last it isn’t snowing yet, LOL. I love our bright outfit!

I would love to have all those landmarks to myself. Are things super quiet there? I always wonder what it feels like when the vibes are off in big cities, so to speak.

  10. Debbie says:

I hope you’re having a less hectic week! I believe you said your husband retired last year. Do you have plans to retire anytime soon?
