Wrapping Up July

Despite the air being thick as mud with humidity, July went by pretty quickly. The first half of the month we were focused on Scooby’s surgery and recovery—he’s come through that like a champ! Since I’m spending the first weekend of August in Colorado, I’m going to use this post to wrap up July.

Still groggy from the anesthesia

Ready to take on the world!

Wrapping Up July

With no outdoor cycling, 100% of my July exercise was done with Peloton. I ended up with almost exactly 45 hours across all activities—should I go for 50 next month?

You can see my top category is strength. How far I’ve come since I resisted resistance training! The “walking” time shows how much my daily 20 minute walks with Scooby add up, although it includes a few “walk + run” classes I took as runs.

The “other” category combines cycling and stretching
—mostly 5 min post-run/ride stretches.

When I noticed the “All” tab, I was almost afraid to find out my total numbers since I signed up in March 2020.

That’s a solid investment in my health, don’t you think?

Weekly Wrap

Here’s the run down of my last few days of workouts. I ended up doing two Jess Sims 45 minutes strength classes—no wonder my shoulders are sore!

Sunday I took my first class with Erik Jäger. He’s a German instructor, but this class was in English. He has a fun vibe and I always love a 90 playlist.

Monday I braved AT’s HIIT Run on the treadmill—it definitely left me a sweaty mess.

Tuesday I opted for an easier day with Sam Yo’s Funk Ride—such fun music!

Wednesday I was back on the treadmill for the two-for-one class with Jon and Cody—Cody’s first time in a treadmill class! It was coached as a walk+run but I took it as a “easy” run.

More funk music with Selena’s walk

Thursday I was working from home and hoped to go for a run outside, but after slogging through oppressive humidity on Scooby’s walk, I opted for a Peleton ride instead.

And that’s a wrap on July!

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Indeed, all those workouts have been a solid investment in your health! 🙌🏼

Hope you’re having a fantastic time in Colorado with your daughter!

  2. Jenn says:

Amazing stats for you! And I’m so glad Scooby is doing so well! He’s such a trooper!

July was better than June, and hoping August will be even better. We had a little family vacation, I went on a girls’ weekend, the boys did a boys’ weekend, and now we are ramping up for back to school. Lots of business, lots of running, lots of complaining about the heat. And that’s on Florida summers.

    Enjoy Colorado!

  3. Yes, Peloton is a solid investment in our health and for all the classes we take, a huge bargain! I’ve come so far in transition from cardio to strength as well. It feels good to feel stronger doesn’t it? Enjoy your fabulous Colorado weather!

  4. Jenny says:

Nice job this month- and impressive with all that strength. My daughter is always criticizing me for doing too much cardio- she would approve of your stats.
I guess you’re in Colorado right now? Enjoy your time there!!!

  5. Catrina says:

Scooby really pulled off the ultimate comeback – from post-op dazed to world domination mode in no time! So glad his recovery’s been smooth.

And 45 hours on Peloton in one month? That’s seriously impressive! I just checked my Garmin – running and biking barely get me to 17 hours. Not even a third of what you did! 😅

Absolutely go for 50 in August – Colorado hikes should give you a solid boost!

  6. Those are some very impressive stats! I should take a peek and see what my numbers are. I’m in the same boat regarding my strength work these days compared to a few years ago. I shunned strength training until I tried P90X (fall of 2009), and then I was hooked. No looking back!

  7. Susanne says:

It’s good that you’re now embracing strength training! So good for us all for so many reasons, and so important for women especially! 45 hours of exercise in a month is really good! I’ve never summarised my activities like that, maybe I should, just for curiosity.
It’s good to see Scooby back in action too!

  8. Wendy says:

What a great month for you–your dedication to the Peloton is impressive! I’m glad Scooby is back in action. Enjoy your time in Colorado!

  9. Melissa says:

Yay for getting into strength training! I started it up almost a year ago and have stuck with it! I know how good it is for me. So glad Scooby is doing well!

  10. I hope you are having a great trip to Colorado. I do love Colorado!! That’s a very interesting recap of your workouts. I should check mine out (well, after I figure out how to do that!). I need to get more consist with my strength training. Seems like it’s easier to get to the gym, or my basement, in seasons other than summer. I just love being outside in the summer and it’s hard to stay indoors!
