Summer Fun Peloton Style

It was a hard week, but I did my best to balance the weight of the world with some summer fun Peloton style. They rolled out a lot of special classes and I squeezed in a good number of them.

More on this later

Summer Fun Peloton Style

I took two fun classes on Sunday. First up was the 45 min Summer Blast strength class that had dropped on July 4th.

This is the summer version of the Thanksgiving Feast class with a similar format—different pairs of instructors led three different 10 min AMRAPs while the others participated. The fun comes from the banter and seeing the instructors compete/struggle to get through as many rounds as possible.

After church I hopped on my bike for a tough 45 min ride with Christian Vande Velde.

This one counts as fun because we’re also watching CVV commentate on the Tour de France.

By Tuesday my arms had recovered enough from the Summer Blast to take Andy’s 30 min upper body Jimmy Buffet class. The main block was as 6 x 3 circuit of alternating moves, paced to match the easy vibe of Jimmy Buffet. It was a slow burn that caught up with you at the end—like a day at the beach, as Andy said!

Thursday I took two fun classes. First I braved Tunde’s Cowboy Carter full body strength class. The programming was more accessible than some of her classes, but hard to enough to leave you feeling like a badass at the end—or maybe it was the renegade row/swing clean finisher.

There’s a few more Cowboy Carter classes I want to take

Then I hopped on my bike for the British Summer Fest ride led by several UK instructors and celebrating summer music festivals. Two instructors rode side-by-side and they switched out to coach different blocks of the ride.

I rounded out the week with Katie Wang’s Asian Pacific Islander Heritage month class that I’ve been meaning to take for a while. I really enjoy Katy’s coaching.

It should be labeled as a glutes and legs and core class, because every block had a core move too.

It was so humid this week, I did all my runs on my treadmill. Aside from crazy storms Wednesday afternoon we didn’t have any rain, but the air is so swampy mushrooms are cropping up everywhere.

Scooby’s recovering well—he gets his stitches out on Wednesday

Saturday I wasn’t in the mood to face the humidity or my tread, so I went to Corepower yoga for the first time this year.

I’m sure everyone is distressed by the flooding in Texas. As a “church camp” kid myself, seeing the ruined cabins and learning of the missing girls made my heart ache. Then on Friday I was told that one of my clients and her mother had been camping and were swept away died in one of the campground floods. 😢

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

  1. The floods were so horrific my condolences to you and your friends family. My sister also knew someone who had relatives there. Just terrible
I like that Peloton always offers fun seasonal classes too. I did not really like the full body strength too chaotic
Looking forward to seeing you next weekend

Yes, a hard week for sure! We’re in Texas right now and not that far away from where the terrible flooding happened- the area I’m in was not affected, but everyone is talking about it. So, so sad.
Glad Scooby is healing up! I hope next week is less humid and you can get back outside with your running buddy. In the meantime- as Birchie said in my comments today, there’s a reason treadmills were invented. We must use them!

  3. Catrina says:

Oh dear, so sorry to hear about your client and her mother – that’s absolutely heart breaking. I can’t even imagine how heavy that must feel, especially with the other tragic news this week.
It’s inspiring how you still found ways to move and carve out moments of joy amidst it all. So glad to hear Scooby is recovering well. I’m sure his upcoming stitch removal will be a big relief (for everyone!).

It was such terrible news about the Texas floods and I’m so sorry to hear your client and her mother were there. I’ve been trying to follow the news about it but sadly international news disappears fast from the feeds here.
Nice that you’ve kept yourself busy with the Peloton classes. That must be a good way to distract yourself while getting the body what it needs too. Sounds like some good strength workouts there. And anything including Renegade rows is badass!

  5. What awful news about your client and her mother. I’m so sorry, it was such a tragic event.
So glad to hear Scooby is recovery well!

  6. That full body strength class looks fun! I also really like Katie’s coaching! I’ve taken several of her classes…she knows how to get the muscles burning!

  7. Wendy says:

I’m so sorry that you knew someone affected by the Texas floods. It was horrific, and the politicization of the whole situation makes it worse. We need running more than ever, don’t we?

  8. Jenn says:

I am so so sorry for your loss.
I just can’t get over how violent and devastating the floods were. Those poor girls, and the staff.
Wishing you peace and comfort in this time.

  9. Darlene S Cardillo says:

    That is terrible… so sorry!

You are smart to run on the treadmill… I just can’t. Those classes looked fun. Maye I should rethink Peleton?

    Great news about Scooby!!

  10. Debbie says:

It’s great to read that Scooby is recovery well and is getting his stitches out today.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your client and her mother. How tragic for everyone involved.
