Independence Day Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I am planning a low-key 4th of July. Don’t get it twisted, I’m not not celebrating the holiday, but we are sticking close to home. Scooby had surgery on Wednesday to remove a large lipoma (benign blob of fat), and we don’t want to leave him home alone yet—especially with fireworks going off.

He gets to wear a t-shirt instead of a cone of shame.

Talking about celebrating, if we were having coffee, I might recommend this Peloton ride as a great way to get into the long weekend mood. This is one of the best 2-for-1 rides I’ve taken and the playlist was so fun—it definitely had that summer cookout vibe!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I noticed all the washcloths at the hotels I stayed at in Detroit and Boston. Unlike Zurich where there were none to be had, my hotel in Detroit had a special black one to use for removing make-up, and the linen set at my Marriott in Boston included six—two by the sink, two with extra towels under the sink, and two in the shower.

I get that they don’t want make-stained washcloths,
but they make me wonder if the black is hiding stains—ick!

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that as much fun as I had in Switzerland, I think I need to plan some sort of vacation getaway for August. I haven’t been to the beach in a few years, but might try to visit my daughter and go hiking in Colorado instead.

I hope Scooby feels better from surgery quickly and I’m glad that the mass was benign.

The Airbnb we stayed in last week had a basket of black washcloths for makeup removal. Now I can’t unread what you wrote and now I’ll always wonder what stains are hiding in the black washcloths.

  2. Farrah says:

Aww, Scooby! I hope he recovers soon from the procedure but glad that it was benign!

I’m hoping to go to Switzerleand someday. Haven’t stayed at a hotel in a while so I haven’t really noticed any washcloths but now I can’t unthink of this if I do come across them, haha.

  3. Glad to see Scooby is doing ok and hope he recovers well. Life is short Definitely book the vacation

  4. Catrina says:

Ha! Ever since you mentioned the washcloth situation in Zurich, I’ve been hyper-aware of them. I actually find myself scanning for them when visiting someone’s home and I need the bathroom! 😄
And yes, I had the exact same thought about those black make-up cloths… I avoided them like they were radioactive. 😂
Colorado hiking in August sounds perfect—if I remember right, that’s where your daughter lives?

  5. Jenny says:

Well, Switzerland was (partially) a work trip, right? You definitely need an official vacation. Hiking in Colorado sounds amazing.
I hope Scooby recovers quickly! How does he like wearing the t=shirt?
    Happy 4th!

  6. I wish Max could have been in a shirt, as opposed to the annoying cone, when he had his two different ACL surgeries. I hope all goes well with Scooby’s recovery. Yeah, that black washcloth…

  7. Michelle says:

OK I was ready to applaud the black washcloth idea but now can’t get your wonder out of my mind LOL

I hope Scooby’s recovery is quick and easy!

  8. Cari says:

Ewww now thinking bad things on dark wash cloths! But I appreciate more even solo because they do not dry!
Team beach, even though I’m so not a beach person

  9. Jenn says:

Oooh. I like the idea of a dark washcloth, but you’re right… what secrets might be hiding?

I hope Scooby is doing well!

I’m not really celebrating. It’s not my favorite holiday anyway, but the pugs get so scared, and I hate crowds, so … home I stay.

  10. I hope Scooby is recovering well. Great idea on staying home with him. I also stayed home and have no regrets. I’ve never seen a black washcloth in a hotel and am also wondering if the color also hides the stains.

  11. Jessie says:

so glad everything is okay with Scooby!! Heal quickly handsome pup!
