Celebrating Global Running Day And Peloton Milestones

The first week of June marks the start of 🌈 Pride Month 🌈 and Global Running Day. šŸƒšŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø I celebrated Global Running Day with Peloton, participated in a PLFAG ā€œStraight for Equalityā€ program at work, and am looking for ways to be an active ally as the current administration attempts to silence the LGBTQ+ community and supporters.

I’ll be taking Matty’s pride class taught by his drag persona Mara šŸ’… next week.Ā

Celebrating Global Running Day And Peloton Milestones

I had a quick trip to Minneapolis this week with an early flight home on Wednesday, so I wasn’t sure I’d be able to celebrate Global Running Day, but when I woke up crazy early (3:00 am) and saw Peloton already had dropped Global Running Day classes, I got out of bed and headed to the hotel gym.

I managed to stretch, shower, and check-out on time to meet my colleague at 5:25 am!

Peloton has three new Global Running Day classes this year, and I’ve now taken three of them.

The class with Katherine Switzer was really good. Of course Susie asked her about that first Boston marathon, but she also covered a lot of other topics including her current routine which still includes 5 days a week of running (she’s 78) and her plan to do Boston at least one more time when she’s 80.

Don’t tell Drake their search bar is promoting Kendrick Lamar šŸ˜‰

I celebrated a few unofficial Peloton milestones this week—my daily streak reached 1800 days, my total class count hit 7525, and I took my 3250th strength class.

Weekly Wrap

What else did I do this week?

Monday, it was so cool I wore long sleeves for my run with Scooby.

By Friday it was warm and humid—and Scooby took a lot more breaks.

On Tuesday I did this stack of strength classes in the hotel gym.

When I was done with Tunde’s class, a woman who had been walking on a treadmill came over and said how impressed she was by my workout. 😊 Tunde does bring out the beast in you!

I also used the Summer of Sizzle calendar from my Peloton Breakthrough Crew group for ideas for add-on classes.

I’ll probably skip all those Pilates classes ….

A huge thank you to DeborahĀ andĀ Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Did you get to run on Global Running Day this year?

  1. Tunde does bring out the beast in you. I am doing her 4 week arm program again this month paired with Adrian’s glutes-humbling! Have you done either of these? Highly recommend especially Adrian. I have come to enjoy the 10-15 min Pilates classes as core options

  2. Jenny says:

Happy Pride Month!!! I did get out for a run on global running day, but it just coincidentally fit into my schedule that way. I definitely didn’t get out of bed at 3 am to run!
Sounds like a great week with lots of fun workouts. I quit Peloton a while ago, but I will admit they have a lot of fun seasonal classes. Matty was always one of my favorites : )

  3. Debbie says:

Why yes, I did get out for a 1-mile run on Global Running Day! It wasn’t pretty, but I got it done.

  4. I’d forgotten about Marty/Mara! I’ll need to check-in with them šŸ˜‰ Nice work on that early morning run on Global Running Day!!

  5. Jessie says:

Wow, that is an EARLY start in Minneapolis! Yikes. How come?

  6. Is it just a coincidence that Scooby’s tongue got bigger for the Friday pic too? šŸ™‚ So cute! Well done on that early run!!

    • Coco says:

I think his tongue does expand with his exertion. I wonder if there’s a formula for a biology-math problem!

  7. Melissa says:

You got quite the early run in on global running day! Nice job fitting it in. I love all the pictures of Scooby! His tongue always makes me smile.

  8. Susanne says:

Waking up at 3 am and off to the gym? That’s… early!
How wonderful about that woman’s comment on your workout! That must have been inspiring!
Running 5 days a week at 78 is impressive. She must be super strong! My trainer has talked about someone like that, perhaps that’s her.

    • Coco says:

It must be her. She is much more unique than she gives herself credit for.

The early wake-up wasn’t on purpose!

  9. Wendy says:

I’m impressed with your Peloton milestones! You and Deborah are the Peloton Queens, for sure. Nice work this week. I did not run on GRD–it was raining, I had to work… am I even a real runner anymore?

  10. Darlene S Cardillo says:

You are the Peleton queen. I want to look at the free ones.
Great job. I think I ran last Wed.

  11. Jenn says:

So many great programs and classes for such a great day! And what a great compliment for you!

I did have a little run on Global Running Day and it was great!
