The Week In Between

With New Year’s Day falling on a Wednesday, this really felt like the week in between. In between 2024 and 2025. In between relaxed holidays and busy work days. In between my husband’s distinguished career and well-earned retirement ….

Scooby’s going to enjoy his new morning routine!

The Week In Between

This also was the week in between Peloton challenges. I completed the Streak to the New Year Challenge, which required at least 30 minutes a day throughout December. It was a challenge on my travel days, and motivated me to take an extra walk and stretch.

On January 1 I started the Peloton 100 Day Streak challenge, which gives you credit for any class taken on a given day.

Since I’ve got a personal 1650+ day streak going, this one shouldn’t be too hard, but I will have to remember to do something on my travel days already planned for January (NYC), February (Breckenridge) and March (Chicago).

I earned the Garmin NYE badge running on my tread.

And the Garmin NYD badge running with Scooby

Any one else notice you can only earn these badges 250 times? I guess Garmin really believes being active is the key to a long life!

These badges are symbolic of my approach to the new year—I don’t have any new big goals for 2025, but plan to keep building on my consistency and keep fitness varied and fun.

Weekly Run Down

You know I worked out every day to earn my badges, so I’m just going to share details on the highlights.

Monday’s 5 mile run with Scooby was unseasonably warm.

New Year’s Day brought a biting wind that led me to finish my 6 mile run on my tread.

Thursday I took Jess King’s New Year’s Eve ride, which is always a blast.

Icy sidewalks kept me indoors on Saturday,
but I had fun trying out new rides on my Bike+.

There’s an extensive library of “scenic rides” but I couldn’t resist checking out the 10 min ride along the Chicago lakefront. Maybe next time I’ll try a ride in Croatia or through the streets of Paris.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up throughout the year, and to each of you for stopping by.

Do you have any big goals for 2025?

Haha I never noticed that about the 250 years/times for the badge. That’s a lot of New Years Days! Nice week of activity even with the weirdness that is between Christmas and New Years. I’m jealous of your seasonably warm weather!

  2. Way to start your new year off strong! I will also be trying out some of those ski classes before our trip n March. This week is going to be very dicey! I see lots of indoor workouts

Sounds like a great start to the year! And yes, Scooby will be living his best life now with your husband home.
I love all the Peloton badges and challenges. Keeping fitness varied and fun is a great goal for 2025. Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! Regal Scoobs in that retirement pic. Congratulations to your husband!

  5. Debbie says:

Congrats to your husband on his retirement. I’m sure Scooby will love having more time for walks and just having him around in general.

    Here’s to a healthy and fit 2025!

  6. The Garmin thing…we can “only” earn the NYE/NYD bandages 250 times, LOL. That makes me laugh every year! Huge congrats to the hubby on his retirement! I guess I’m unofficial :in” for the Peloton 100-day challenge as well…I just have to make sure to remember to keep with it everyday (although I’m active on the daily, I don’t always tap into the app).

Congrats to your hubs on his retirement! What will he do with his downtime now?

I don’t pay attention to the Garmin badges–why would they even have a limit? Good luck with the Peloton challenge. Sounds like a great way to make you accountable!

Congrats to your hubby. Are you next?

You are amazing with your streaks…

So when are you in nYC in January? Will our paths cross? I’m there Jan 12-16.

  9. Jenn says:

You are taking 2025 by storm and I love to see it! Scooby looks ready, too!

That’s so funny about earning the badges 250 times. I wonder why they did it that way.

Huge congratulations to your husband! Well-earned!

  10. Catrina says:

Nice job on staying consistent, Coco!
I bet your husband already has plans on what to do with all his time – and I can imagine that you will be doing a lot more outdoor bike rides once the weather gets nicer.

  11. ah, retirement! Congrats to your husband! Starting today I am moving one step closer to retirement. Sounds like you have a really nice bike. The scenic rides would be very interesting to me!

  12. Cari says:

Nicely done with all the streaking, and good to know you have another ~200 years to go 😀
Congratulations all around, especially Scooby who will reap the benefits of the runs and the chill mornings
