Easing Back Into My Routine

I’m finally feeling better after whatever crud caught me at the start of November. I’m not quite 100%, but I have more energy and am easing back into my routine.

Hey, there! What did I miss?

Easing Back Into My Routine

Between barely feeling better on my birthday and with Thanksgiving coming up, I didn’t want to prolong my illness by doing more than my body was ready for. I made a conscious effort to listen to my body and ramp up gradually. I figured out that I can reach 25000 Peloton minutes for the year  if I average 60 min/day from here on out. I can do that with a 20 min walk + 20 min strength + 20 min ride/run.

Sunday: 1.5 mile Scooby Walk
I had a lot of chores to catch up on, so my only “exercise” was my morning walk with Scooby. We’re both used to seeing deer, but Scooby didn’t even notice this little guy!

Monday: 30 min FB Strength + 2.25 Tread Miles
Monday I was ready for a solid strength class and then eased back into running with a 20 min tread class.

Tuesday: Core + 10 min LB Strength + 30 min Peloton Ride
Tuesday I felt up for a longer cardio workout and chose a fun music-themed class with Robin. I warmed up with short core and lower body strength classes and felt pretty good.

Wednesday: Core + 20 min FB Strength + 2.25 Tread Miles
I basically followed Monday’s format, but instead of a 30 min FB strength class paired a 5 min core class with a 20 min strength class. Marcel’s programming is usually tough and I did cut her incline cues in half. 😉

Thursday: Core + 20 min LB Strength + 20 min Peloton Ride
Logan’s power walk had a fun playlist with every song having “power” in it’s title. 💥 Robin’s class was solid, with a glute bridge/clamshell block followed by a squat block. Jess King’s hip hop ride was a lot of fun, and my metrics showed that I worked harder than I had on Tuesday—more proof of my recovery.

Friday: 30 min FB Strength + 3.5 Tread Miles
I was definitely feeling better and braved both a 30 min workout with Adrian and a 30 min run with Alex. Both were great!

Saturday: 10 min Core + 4.0 Scooby Miles
The big test of my recovery—an outdoor run with Scooby! I felt good, it was perfect November running weather, and Scooby was happy!

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Are you hosting or traveling for Thanksgiving?

If you need me on Wednesday I’ll be making my pain-in-the-ass apple pie!

Do you have both the peleton tread and the bike? I have the bike and haven’t been using it much… I had purchased the Tread+ back in COVID era but it was supposed to be delivered the day they announced their recall so I never ended up getting it. I have convinced myself I’ll do the treadmill more if it was a peleton one 🙂

Yay for an outdoor run! I bet that felt great!
25’000 Peloton minutes for the year is amazing. Around 35 hours a month – besides work and travel and “life”.
How many did you do in 2023?

  3. So glad that you are feeling better. Smart idea to take it easy until you feel 100%. We are hosting thanksgiving again this year but have a much smaller group so should be easier. I have been doing lots of my walks w friends so no Peloton credit alas. Congrats on the 25K

I’m glad to hear that you’re feeling better! I love that little buck in your yard. But you knew I would, lol

  5. I’m so glad you’re feeling better! Not a good time of year to be feeling yucky. I don’t pay any attention to my Peloton minutes. Since I don’t have the full membership, I can only do three cardio “equipment” classes each month (that includes bike, treadmill, running and walking), so I either have to listen to a basic cardio workout or “outdoor” class while walking…which means I just do my own thing a lot of time, LOL.

  6. I’m glad you are feeling improved! Sounds like it really wiped you out. Do the deer eat your landscaping and plants? He is really close to the house!

That’s great news that you’re feeling better! I bet Scooby was happy when you felt good enough to run again.

This will be the first year in ages that I won’t be running in a turkey trot or roasting a turkey. Happy Thanksgiving!

Nice job on all the workouts this week. So glad you’re feeling better, just in time for Thanksgiving. That little buck is the sweetest! I am hosting. At the moment the count stands at 12 but I haven’t gotten an answer yet from my brother and his fam, so it may grow to 17.

I am so glad you are feeling better! This one hit hard! I’m sure Scooby is glad to have you back for your walks, too!

So smart to take it easy for a little while until you are 100% back.

We are hosting a small family Thanksgiving. It will be nice, and I’m looking forward to it.
