Jump Into The July Ultimate Coffee Date
If we were having coffee, I would tell you about my visit to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Chicago. (Click through to see the photos-it’s stunning!) Starbucks describes it as “five stories of coffee theater” and it was a fun way to pass the time between my mid-afternoon meeting and dinner.
Each floor has a different theme. We browsed the gifts and bought coffee beans on the first floor, but went to the third floor for our afternoon coffees—and chocolate truffles. They offer flights of the same coffee prepared three different ways, but since I can’t handle that much caffeine, we settled on watching the baristas prepare flights for other customers.
If only I’d known I could do this with my chemistry major!
If we were having coffee, I would ask if you’ve ever had a $16 waffle. We were staying at a fancy hotel, and the restaurant prices were fancy to match.
At least it came with a dollop of greek yogurt and a few berries …
If we were having coffee, I would tell you that my kids have big life milestones this week. My daughter and her boyfriend just bought a house in Colorado. It would have been nice if they had done this a year ago when interest rates were lower and buying a house didn’t involve a bidding war, but ….
Looking forward to visiting them soon! 🏠
Later this month, my son and his wife will finally be taking their honeymoon—after two covid-related postponements.
Such a lovely couple, such a lovely wedding. ❤️
If we were having coffee, I would ask if you have any plans for the Fourth or upcoming vacations?
Oh, that’s exciting for your son & daughter! Awesome milestones, indeed! Our oldest just bought her third house this past week, so I know the excitement & pride you’re feeling 🙂 I bet it was quite entertaining watching the baristas work their magic!
I did not know you were a chemistry major! My youngest son is majoring in chemistry; now that he’s going to be a senior, he’s trying to figure out what to do with it, lol.
Congrats to both of your kids and their spouses!
Congrats on your daughter’s new home and sons honeymoon.
I went to the Roastery in NYC with Cari when it opened. A very interesting place.
Congrats to both of your kids! Nice to see them looking so happy. I did go to the roastery in Chicago as well interesting spot!
The Chi Roastery had a line wrapping around the building anytime I considered going there. Glad you enjoyed! Congrats to your daughter and yay for a honeymoon at last!
We got so lucky and walked right in. By the time we left there was a line.
That’s so great that they are finally getting their honeymoon! And congrats to your daughter on her new home!
That roastery looks like a fun spot!
Ooh! Maybe I can go to the Starbucks Roastery when I’m in Chicago! But I will not be getting a $16 waffle.
Congrats to both kids! Where is the honeymoon going to be?
It’s definitely worth a visit! I didn’t get the waffle there, but I did pay $3 for one chocolate truffle. :-0
They are going to Europe.
So happy your son gets to take that honeymoon! Where are they going?
I’d be nervous about buying a house with someone I’m not legally bound too, but we live in a different world today. I hope they love their new home!
A lot of houses are for sale in our neighborhood & mostly going like hotcakes. We console ourselves with the fact that buying a new home, which we are obviously not ready to do, would also mean really putting some money down!
Great milestones for both kids!
I mistakenly thought that your son and wife had their honeymoon when they went to Germany. But then again, Germany is not a very romantic destination! 🙂
Last week I had a small bottle of coke for USD 6.- in a very regular restaurant. I thought Swiss prices were insane, but your waffle would have fit the menu perfectly.
They did have a great time in Germany, but stayed with family friends so it didn’t count as a honeymoon. 😉
I didn’t post about the $12 bottle of Pelligrino I got when I asked for sparking water. At least it was 750 mL, and they let me take the rest of the bottle up to my room, but …
Yay on the milestones. So exciting!
Have you done the Roastery here?If not, let’s do it when you’re here next time. It’s crazy fun even if smaller, I think, than Chicago
I have not – let’s do it!
Congrats to your kids – GREAT moments for them! I went to the Roastery with my mom and we both enjoyed it. My coworker has a Starbucks CC and somehow got invited to an invite only event for 2 people and she asked me to go with her. We are going next month and I am very excited about it.
Oh, wow, that sounds fun. I hope you post about it!
Exciting times for the kids and I hope the honeymoon is amazing!
I’ve only been to the Roastery once but I point it out on my tours on the Mag Mile. It’s fun to check out but I prefer to support my local faves if I can.
It’s a gorgeous space!
I’m sadly not a coffee person, but that tour sounds amazing! It’s been crazy to see how expensive food has gotten…I’ve never had a $16 waffle!
Ooo, I didn’t know there was a Starbucks roastery in Chicago! THat’s awesome that you got to go!
Congrats to your daughter and boyfriend on getting the house! It’s definitely been rough with the rising interest rates. :'( We managed to snag one righttt before it jumped up even more and are eternally grateful. Yay for your son and his wife as well!! :]
The Starbucks experiences sounds really fun! Congratulations to the kids on their new house! That’s so exciting!
