This year is quickly coming to an end, and while I already am making plans for 2016, I don’t want to let 2015 get away without taking time to look back and reflect on the fun and frustrations of the past 12 months.
The highlight of 2015 was our trip to the Grand Canyon. It’s so hard to choose one picture to share, so if you missed my Grand Canyon posts, please check them out here and here.
The most frustrating thing that happened to me in 2015 was fracturing my foot hiking.
Oof! This is when I realized there was something really wrong!
Luckily, there was lots of running before and after that happened. Here are my five favorite #SeenOnMyRun pictures from 2015.
I also had fun hiking, cycling, and visiting other cities on business trips. Here are five of my favorite non-running pictures from 2015.
I’m not good at keeping track of my activities, but according to Garmin Connect, I ran over 700 miles, cycled nearly 600 miles (not including spinning), and hiked over 40 miles.

Looking at my Kindle library and the books I reviewed for Blogging for Books, I read over 25 books. While I haven’t been very diligent about sharing book reviews this year, I did manage to write about my favorites: The Nightingale, Paper Towns, The Girl On The Train, Still Alice, and Reconstructing Amelia. My mother-in-law gave me The Year of Yes by Shonda Rhimes for Christmas, and I spent the weekend reading it. It’s definitely a good book to read this time of year, and find motivation to “yes” your way to a fantastic 2016.
Have you reflected on your highs and lows of 2015?
looks like a wonderful year, despite the foot fracture!
I love end of year recaps! Happy almost 2016 to you!
Same to you! Are you doing a midnight mile again?
Seems like a really good year for you, except the foot fracture. I have never been to the Grand Canyon but it is on my bucket list. LOVED the Nightengale !
I have reviewed (in my mind) my highs and lows of this year. Highs were all on the road. Lows were all in my family. Kind of balanced out. But it was definitely a tough year for me.
Love all of your pictures, especially the Grand Canyon – still on my bucket list! Oh, so glad your foot is better now!
I love the seen on the run photos! It’s cool that you set them up like a slide show 🙂
Thanks! I like the look of the slideshows – I just hope people watch them all — 5 photos don’t take that long. 😉
The Grand Canyon is on my bucket list! Take care of those toes, ‘lil lady.
I’m trying! They need a pedicure. It’s been since Halloween and that’s scary!
I’m so glad your foot is better! I want to read The Year of Yes – good to know you liked it.
I did not know Shonda Rhimes had a new book That is good to know I have been lacking on reading
You do take advantage of the great views of DC on your runs. Yay for healing your foot and coming back stronger
I take a lot of pictures that aren’t worth sharing but the Jefferson Memorial and Iwo Jima always get me!
I had a great year I think, lol! I sure traveled a lot more than I thought I would ever be able too, I also ran a lot of races, again that I never thought I would. Ohhh your hiking accident makes me glad I didn’t see this before we went on our hike yesterday. I was already nervous since my first full marathon is in 2 weeks! My fingers are crossed I can stay healthy and well for it! I’m so very glad you joined us for Weekly Wrap and linked this recap up! I think 2016 is going to be a great year, wouldn’t you agree?
I tripped on a tree root on an “easy” part of the hike – it taught me to respect the easy parts! I’m excited for you about the marathon.
great recap! I am a bit of a procrastinator so I am not recapping 2015 yet- I still have 3 days left 🙂 You read a lot this year too, very impressive!
LOL. I’m working the rest of the week, so anything exciting that happens will have to be blogged about next year.
Your foot 🙁 That was really swollen. I am glad you are back to running now, it is no fun being out. It is good to look back , it always feels like the fun moments pass so fast! Grand Canyon hiking looked amazing 🙂
I can sympathize Coco! Would you believe my foot was never swollen? But the pain…incredible at first. Yours looks painful. I keep pressing my high school senior to pick a trip to the Grand Canyon as his graduation present. So far, no luck. I haven’t looked at my year-end numbers yet. I definitely got a lot of cycling miles in a short period of time. Your seen-on-your-run pictures are spectacular! Thanks for linking and Happy New Year!
My son didn’t express enough enthusiasm when we were planning this trip to be included, but then he ended up getting to spend a day there as part of a school trip!
Despite fracturing your foot, sounds like you had a really good year!
As you know, you post my favorite morning pics! Hope you have a Happy New Year (come Thursday/Friday) 🙂
I love all your pictures! Looks like a great year despite fracturing your foot. Ouch! I hope you have a Happy New Year!
Wow, you still logged an amazing amount of miles considering you injury! I’m impressed!!
Looking at my Garmin Connect calendar I see I was not a very patient patient — starting with two runs in Philly soon after the diagnosis!
Looks like a great year other than the fracture! Im impressed with how many books you read this year- I haven’t counted but my guess would be that I read about 12-13. Happy New Year!
You definitely had more highs than lows in 2015!
Happy new year and thank you for sharing with Fitness Health & Happiness!
