If we were having coffee, I would try to smile despite my frustrations over my foot. I thought I was taking it easy, and was thrilled to have two pain-free, 4 mile runs at the track. But then last weekend I decided to run my 5 mile neighborhood loop, and that did not end well. By the last half mile or so, my foot was bothering me, and by the time my Garmin hit 5.o it hurt.  Instead of sucking it up for the last 0.3 miles back to my house, I stopped running and walked–and then iced my foot when I got home. It also bothered me in spinning class, so I’ve gone back to staying seated when the rest of the class is doing standing runs, and I’m sticking with my other options for staying sane without running.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I decided to give the Garmin 225 another try after my first one died. When I bought this replacement I thought I’d be using it to help me keep my running “easy,” but now it looks like I’ll be using it more for indoor cycling for a while. 🙁

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I gave up on my tomatoes (they just weren’t getting enough sun), but have been enjoying the leftovers from my Mom’s garden. My favorite recipes are this Watermelon Tomato Gazpacho and this Tomato Tart–they would go great together!

Speaking of recipes, I’ll have a review and giveaway of Freekeh grains this week, so come back and check it out.

If were were having coffee, I would tell you that I finally have a vacation to look forward to. It will be weird going away while leaving my son at home, but he’s 21 and has his own things to do–and my Mom will make sure he doesn’t starve or get too lonely. 😉

  4. I’m really sorry your foot’s still giving you a hard time – injuries just stink! Funny, I had no luck with my tomatoes this year either – just going to have to rely on the farmer’s markets 🙂

  5. Coco I hear you all about the foot pain as I have been struggling with a really tight calf muscle for weeks. It really takes a toll on a run for sure. I have to really make more efforts to foam roll and massage out. Thanks for coffee this month. Have a really great weekend my friend.

  6. Let’s start with the fun! – Yay! Vacation – without kids! Have a wonderful time. Take this opportunity to care for that poor foot of yours. I hope it starts healing up and quick!! Thanks for having coffee with us!

  8. Carrie Skoll says:

Damn foot. I’m sorry that it’s not healing up faster. Glad you’re trying to stay sane through it all.

I love that tomato tart. When you were first talking about it, I was imagining a dessert tart and couldn’t figure out how tomatoes would work with that. But, now I get it. YUM!!!

  9. I am so sorry that you foot acted up again when running on your neighborhood streets. It is so frustrating not being able to run when you want to so badly. Here’s hoping the latest pains are short lived.

    Thanks for the linkup!

  10. that darn foot needs to get better! I am testing the freekah grains too and I am looking forward to experimenting with it! I am glad you got a vacation planned, very important and yes the 21 year old will not starve to death I am sure! Have a great weekend!

But I sure feel like I could use one right now!

  13. So sorry to hear about your foot. That is so frustrating. Always so exciting to have a vacation to look forward to ! Where are you going ?

  14. Kelli says:

So sorry to hear your foot is acting up. I think you were smart to call it quits when you did and ice it. Must be pretty bad if it bothered you on the bike, too. Speedy recovery wishes your way!

  15. Dang foot! I’m sorry to hear this but sounds like your doing the right thing with it! And your son will be fine! I have a 19 year old my husband and I leave and while it is so hard we do make it! This is my first time participating in the link up, I thank you so much for it and look forward to the next one. Have a great weekend and vacation!

  16. I’m so sorry about your foot. I had to cut my run short on Thursday because of the same issue. I even went so far as to call hubby to come get me 🙁
I tried spin once and hated it. I never went back LOL! Now I don’t have a membership to that gym anymore.
    Have fun on your vacation!!

    • Coco says:

Sorry about your foot – glad your husband was able to get you. I have found that spinning really depends on the instructor. Some I love, some are just ok, and some wouldn’t get me back either. Luckily most of the instructors where I go are in the first category.

  17. Megan says:

Injuries that sideline you from running are no fun, I hope it heals soon! Thanks for hosting the link-up!

  18. Ugh! Sorry about your foot. My friend has one of those Garmins and he is in a battle with Garmin over it… it does not record his mileage. Looks cool though – LOL. I am checking out your watermelon gazpacho b/c I can’t find my recipe!

I have been entertaining my 15 year old niece this weekend. I need a vacation 😉

    • Coco says:

Oh, no! I hope they replace his Garmin. And that mine keeps working, since I’m testing it out very much … Hmmmm. I hope you had fun with your niece!

  19. So sorry to hear about your foot. I hope it gets better! That tomato tart looks delicious and a vacation sounds fab! I’m in the middle of trying to plan one myself!

  20. Carla says:

Id say WAIT NOW IM SO SO LOST—-WHERES THE VACAY TO? 🙂

  21. Chaitali says:

Sorry about the foot hurting again 🙁 Hopefully it will be better after a bit of rest. And yay for a vacation to look forward to! Thoughts of vacation keep me going through the week sometimes. That’s why I’m often planning them way in advance, just so I have one to look forward to.

  22. Jessica S says:

I’m overrun with tomatoes – gazpacho is definitely in my future!
