If we were having coffee, I would have to ask if you saw my Friday Five post from yesterday. I don’t want to repeat myself, but I love my new shoes and am so excited to be going to Fitbloggin’ in June–I would love it if you would join me!  You can register here. <<not an affiliate link 😉

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that I’ve decided to start a kitchen herb garden. You probably already have an herb garden–if not a full vegetable garden–but gardening is not my priority. But, I am so fed up with the crappy selection of over-priced, wilted herbs at my grocery store, that I am going to figure out this whole green thumb thing.

Speaking of kitchens, if we were having coffee I would tell you that we have started talking about doing some kitchen remodeling. Our kitchen is fine, but we haven’t made any updates since we bought our house 5 years ago, and I’m pretty sure our oven is from the 70’s. We’d have to do it before we move, so we might as well enjoy it first, right? I’ve just started to make a list of “wants” and gather ideas–I am not looking forward to making all of these decisions!

If we were having coffee, I would wish you a Happy Easter, and ask that you send any unwanted black licorice jelly beans my way. 😉

  1. yes I read your Friday 5! Love your shoes too! Have fun at fitblogging! who knew-I will have to look into that for next year!

  2. I redid my kitchen a year ago. It took me a while to decide on everything but I love it. Have a great weekend & thanks for the link up.

  3. Good luck with the kitchen remodel if you move forward with it! Remodeling seems like a good idea before you do it and after you do it, but the during is a whole other story! We are in the midst of a major renovation right now and it is pure craziness. There are just too many choices for absolutely everything out there and it is crazy overwhelming! Looking forward to the end (it’s near!)

  4. I love my herb garden so good luck! I have basil, rosemary, mint, thyme and oregano 🙂 Happy Easter!

  5. Kelli says:

I would say basil, for sure! Cilantro can be good if you also have a veggie garden and make your own salsa or pico de gallo. Kitchen remodels are so disruptive but very much worth it. I love that I have an island big enough for food prep and for barstools/seating. This is the first house I’ve ever had that setup.

  6. Ohh kitchen remodel is SOOO Much fun!!! We are thinking about putting new floors in our kitchen– something I thought would be quite simple but it’s going to be a rather larger ordeal!

  7. I am so not a green thumb either-odd for a vegetarian right? I really want my own garden too but I think I will kill everything. Nice seeing you for coffee!

  8. Lisa says:

An herb garden sounds awesome! Gardening is not my forte either so I’ve always been scared to start one. Good luck starting to plan for kitchen renovations!

  9. Carrie Skoll says:

    Yippee! Fitbloggin!

Good luck with the remodel – sounds like a good project. I would love to do mine and we’ve lived here for almost 13 years. But, it’ll happen someday.

  10. Good luck with the kitchen remodel – it is the one project I’m dying to take on in my house! Herbs gardens are the best! We plant a couple of different kinds of basil, rosemary, cilantro, thyme and sage every year.

    • Coco says:

Sounds good! I’m starting with mint, basil, parsley, thyme and cilantro. Any more than that and I’d have to cook more! 😉

  11. Good luck on the kitchen remodel!! How fun!! I love the new shoes, they are very cute.
Building your own herb garden sounds like a great idea…they are way over priced in the stores.

  12. Thanks for the fun linkup! I will be back next month to join in as well.
I have a little pot of sunflowers growing on my kitchen counter, it is time to get them into a bigger pot!
    Have a wonderful weekend!

  13. Good luck with the remodel and herb garden. I do not have a green thumb but it would be nice to have some thyme, parsley and sage. Happy Easter!

  14. HoHo Runs says:

I did a kitchen remodel about 7 years ago. I’m still happy with it. It’s fun getting to pick new things. Good luck with the herb garden. I’ve never attempted that.

  15. Kim says:

I thought about growing herbs a few years ago for the same reasons – it lasted about 3 weeks until I killed them all:(
Rosemary, basil, thyme, cilantro – those are my top 4.
I like my kitchen for the most part – I love our fridge – it is a French door style with 2 freezer drawers and an ice maker still – it can hold a LOT!!!

I’d definitely share my jelly beans. I love most candy but jelly beans don’t really do anything for me, especially the black ones! I hope the Easter bunny brings you lots of them though. 🙂

  18. I love herbs, however I never grow them myself. I have the worst brown thumb ever. Seriously, I am horrible at gardens and out door patio flowers. I have to replace them all the time. Basil is one of my favorites for having in the yard though. That is something that is pretty easy to keep and we use it a lot. Happy Easter weekend Coco and love coffee with you 🙂

  19. Susan Smith says:

I totally agree with you about the overpriced-subpar status of grocery store herbs! I pretty much kill everything I grow unfortunately, but hopefully your herbs will be a success!

We may also both share a love of black licorice flavor!

  20. Farrah says:

Yay for an herb garden! I’d so love to have one, but with all this moving around, I don’t think I’m gonna be able to start one til I’m finally settled down somewhere.

I’ve never met anyone who actually liked those black licorice jelly beans! :O If I’d gotten any this year, I definitely would’ve sent em’ your way!

  21. Fit Bloggin’ is SO tempting – esp. because it is in Denver and I owe my friends there a visit! Have you been before?

    • Coco says:

Yes! I went in 2012 and 2013. Last year it conflicted with a work conference so I couldn’t go. This year I am ditching the work conference. 😉

  22. I can beat you – my stove is from the 1960s (I actually have the manual LOL). We are just beginning to talk about it, but mine involves moving walls in all likelihood, so it’ll be a bit before we start.

    Happy Easter!
