Today is Good Friday–the day we remember the Crucifixion of Jesus. Why is a day when we remember such a dark event called Good Friday? According to Wikipedia, the etymology is in dispute, but usually is attributed to the use of the word “good” to mean pious or holy. (That’s what I was taught.)
But there is good news in Good Friday. One of the many symbolic messages in the events of Holy Week is that Good Friday is not the end of the story.
The Disciples were devastated and hopeless after their Lord and promised Savior died a painful death on the cross like a heinous criminal. But that despair was transformed on Easter, when Jesus overcame death with His Resurrection, and returned to the Disciples with a promise of eternal life.
When we are going through hard times, we can hold on to hope that the next chapter in our story will be better–whether it’s God, family, or friends (or a combination of all three!)–who pull us through.

What is good in your life today?
Fitbloggin is going to be awesome! wish I could go! Pretty new mizuno’s, I saw them when you posted about the track! Love the new color!
I am not really a girlie girl but I love the hot pink!
Black jelly beans! Nothing better.
Enjoy Fitbloggin. I went when it was here in Balt. and got so much out of it. Denver doesn’t sound too shabby either!
Yes, I think I met you there! I wish it were local again, but Ronni has branched out!
That’s right! Thank you for remembering!
I wish the dates worked for FB for me but they don’t. L 🙁 I used to loathe black jelly beans as a kid now I love them. Happy Easter!
Blech on the black jellybeans! My mom adores them though! And I just HAVE to figure out how to make it to a blog conference soon. I’ve been writing for over two years now and I think it’s time! I’ve heard that FitBloggin’ is a great one!
Make sure you save yours for your mom, then! Fitbloggin’ is big enough but not overwhelming.
Love my wave rider 18s. I did the same. Now I have the white and pink ones since my black and blue are worn.
I wear Mizuno Inspires. I love your new color! My news ones are very pale purple. Fitbloggin’ sounds like fun. I actually am going to Denver but not until July. Too bad that didn’t work out. I’m doing the coffee date tomorrow for the first time! Happy Easter.
Bummer on the timing for Denver! I used to wear Inspires, but I’ve done well with the Wave Riders.
I’m really jealous of fitbloggin. I wish there were some east coast conferences. Denver in June doesn’t work for me. Can’t wait to hear about it though. See you for coffee tomorrow.
I think there are some in NYC, but I never seem to hear about them in time.
I wish I had paid attention to the dates for Fitbloggin’ as I live in Denver. Too bad I’ll be out of town that weekend. Have a great Easter weekend!
I love jelly beans but not the black ones! LOL! Nice post- see you tomorrow for coffee!
I have never ran in Mizunos but my sister has a pair and really likes them. I am due for a new pair of running shoes. Perhaps I will give them a try.
I think shoe preferences are very personal, but I’ve been hooked on Mizunos for years.
ooo, love those shoes!
I pulled out my new running shoes this week, and fell in love with them, as I always do. Headed out the door and yep, it started to rain.
Guess they’re all broken in now.
Hooray for new running shoes (especially Mizunos!!).
I will save all the black jelly beans for you:)
I would love to go to a blogger conference at some point in time but there are not very many here in France. Happy Easter weekend ! Looking forward to the link up.
Happy Easter.. May God be with us always 🙂
I love Mizunos and since getting my pair a few years ago, I have never wanted to run in anything else. I am so overdue for a new pair and I have a half marathon on Mother’s Day and late June. I am hoping to add Fitbloggin to my list of things to do very soon 🙂
I LOVE the black beans too!
I use to dislike the licorice flavors, but now I do not mind them at all! Funny how taste buds evolve through the years.
