This is my second Milestone Pod review and giveaway. I love my Milestone Pod so much, I asked them if they would sponsor a giveaway as part of my month-long celebration of four years of blogging. And, they are so awesome, they said yes without hesitation.
Since I wrote my first review, they have continued to make improvements and add features. The main purpose of the Milestone Pod is to keep track of your shoe mileage automatically, so you know when it’s time to replace them (usually at 300-400 miles).
The pod fits into a little rubber holder that you can lace to your to shoes. You never have to turn it on, turn it off, or hit “start” or “stop.” It even can tell the difference between when you are walking around and when you are running. I’ve been so impressed with how accurately it records the start time and duration of my runs, even if I’ve walked to my starting place or had to stop for a stoplight.
These screen shots show some of the new data tracking features:
The pencil symbol next to distance shows that you can calibrate your run distance (for example, based on your GPS watch data) to improve the accuracy of the Milestone Pod.

I thought it was really fun to see that I had the same pace for two very different runs!
So, what are you waiting for?

Do you like to geek out over running data, or do you just run?
Neat! I’ve never seen this before.
this WALKER would love this too.
and I do love me some running shoes—even though I only run if chased.
I really like how it tracks your cadence that’s something I’ve been working on and that would be great!
I try to get a new pair once or twice a year. I know that is not nearly often enough though. This would be a great thing to track and know when it’s time. Love it.
Awesome! Depending on what races I’m training for, I usually replace my shoes every 6 months!
I don’t buy new ones enough! This tracker sounds awesome!
I’m so guilty of overwearing my shoes (that’s not a word, is it?) I need this. I try to buy new shoes every year, but always lose track of time.
4 years of blogging – I guess that means me too. 🙂
Every year? Ay, yi. yi!
I have never heard of such a device, but hello way awesome!
I usually go with how my shoes feel, which tends to mean I am replacing them about every 6 months, but I do rotate between 2-3 pairs to help them last longer.
Once every three years.
I need a better system! I just buy new ones at the first of the year. I am sure that is not the best way to go about it! I need one of these!
I need a new pair of running shoes I have bought a new pair in years.
I’m loving the milestone pod! Although I went to download it yesterday and couldn’t get the red light to come on and still can’t 🙁
Hmm. Is there a general help email? I’ll email my contacts and see what they say.
This is awesome! I’ve always wondered about my mileage on my shoes and have guessed my way through 5 marathons.
I work at a running shoe store (Fleet Feet) so I have no excuse to change out my shoes every 400-500 miles!
Lucky you!
I buy new shoes once or twice a year. I didn’t know you’re supposed to get new ones after X many miles. I just bought them if they were cute or on sale.
It depends on how much you run. If your shoes are holding up (the treads aren’t too worn) and you don’t start getting mystery aches, you’re probably OK.
I buy them once a year
I buy new running shoes about once a year
I am on a seeeeeeriously tight budget si I try to wait as long as i can. my last pair lasted 2 years! My current ones, however need to be replaced and it’s only been 5 months!
haha typo….sO
I replace my running shoes about once a year, give or take, depending on my milage that year. : )

Between 3-6 mos, depends on how many races
This is a cool idea. I remember to buy running shoes when I start to have chronic pain in a knee or ankle or hip. It is very reliably at around 300 miles.
I’m embarrassed to admit the last time I bought new running shoes. It’s been years! I want to get into walking/jogging though and I am planning to buy a new pair ASAP!
Usually twice a year.
I buy new shoes about once every 6 months.

Love this!! I try to buy new shoes every 300-500 mikes. This would help!
I usually buy 1-2 pairs a year! I would love to win this awesome prize for myself too!
Thank You for the chance

I buy new shoes about twice a year or so.
I try to get a new pair once or two times a year!
I buy new running shoes at least once a year.
I buy a new pair of running shoes about once per year.
I buy new running shoes once a year.
Usually every couple of years.
I KNOW it should be more, but once every 2ish years?
Looks like a great product that I could use since I constantly overrun my shoes
I need one! I’m worse than Sue – I done even know how many miles mine have!
I just start running about a year ago and have been trying to track how many miles my shoes get, but now since I have two pairs of running shoes it is harder to track.
To be honest? I have no clue!! I’m a new runner, and I’ve been lucky enough to win a few contests for new shoes. Until recently I hadn’t bought running shoes in a few years.
I buy new running shoes when there is a good price on them but I retire old ones when they are hurting my feet…though I recently started tracking the miles on my shoes using Strava.
Every 300 miles or so, or whenever I start to feel it in my ankles and knees!
So inconsistent about buying new shoes! This sounds great.
