Some posts are hard to write, but for this one the hardest part was picking my top five! Here are my picks for my running bucket list.
- Paris. I love Paris. J’aime Paris. Almost enough to wish I were running the Paris Marathon with Sue. But I’d be happy to run a 5K–or just run!–in Paris.
- The Grand Canyon. A trip to the Grand Canyon is at the top of our family vacation list. Did you know there is a Grand Canyon Half Marathon? We just missed the 2014 race, but that probably means it’s the perfect time to start planning for next year.
- Madison. I’ve been to Madison once, but only for one day in November, so I had to do my workout on the hotel treadmill. While Steena was nice enough to meet me for coffee, I want to go back and join her for one of her scenic runs–but maybe not in winter!
- Long Beach. I always love the pictures Carrie shares of her beach front runs. I did get to run at the beach near San Diego two years ago, but either the weather or the view (or both) didn’t seem as breathtaking.
- Vancouver. I feel like I am sort of cheating by putting this city on my list, but I am trying to line up a business trip to Vancouver later this year. I really hope I get to go, and I really hope that I get to run while I’m there. If I do, I might have to make it my mission to find the Harry Jerome statue in Stanley Park.

Do you have a running bucket list?
I could use some moral support…want to come to Paris as my support team? 🙂 Grand Canyon is on mine too! I’d love to do the Rim 2 Rim someday!
Oh, that’s a great idea! I could help you select your post-marathon champagne!
Um, I want in on this, LOL 🙂
I love Paris too! What an amazing place for a run!
ah Paris I forgot that one! The Grand Canyon that sounds tough. Great list! #FridayFive
I did not know there is a half marathon in the Grand Canyon. That sounds so awesome, I’ve always wanted to go visit!
I had Vancouver on my list but it didn’t make the final cut. I’ve been eying SeaWheeze!!
Love your list. While I haven’t run the Paris Marathon, I did run in Paris when I was there. Seeing the sunrise over the Eiffel Tower was pretty amazing. The Long Beach race is great! I’ve got an extra bed and a free ride to the start – it’s about 20 minutes from me.
I have run in Vancouver and several places in California… my favorite is Monterrey! The waterfront is spectacular.
DH and I ran a 10k in Madison once – we went up for the weekend and the local bookstore we wandered into was sponsoring it! Lovely happenstance. I’ve always wanted to go back. The MadCity ultras (50k distance) are on my list – but they’re right around Boston time. Someday….
I’d love to see Paris on foot too!
I ran paris this year ( http://www.nickdawson.net/blog/paris-marathon-a-musical-in-three-parts/ ) – great race and worth making the trek for…just learn from my fail and arrive more than 48 hours ahead of time 🙂
Yikes! I will keep that in mind!
I love reading people’s running bucket lists! Always so many good idea. Grand Canyon is on mine too!
I love the theme this week from the DC ladies b/c I’m finding way more cool places to add to my list after reading everyone else’s! I think Vancouver would be really fun, I hope it works out for you.
Vancouver is on my list too! The Lululemon SeaWheeze Half Marathon has a beautiful course. Really want to do that one!
I got to Milwaukee a lot for work and it always seems to be cold every time I’m there. I never have been to Madison though. How cool to run the Grand Canyon. I had no idea they had a half marathon. There is so many great races to run, and not enough time:)
Nice list. I was unaware of a Grand Canyon half marathon. I’ve never been there before. Sounds like when I make that eventual trip, I should try and line it up just right…
Of your list I think I choose Vancouver.
I’m really excited about it now.
I mostly just want to run in Hawaii – all the time but…..
Love your choices. I’d run in Paris and add Italy to my list too 🙂
Wow the Grand Canyon is my favourite in your list. I think it would be awe inspiring to run there.
Oooh Vancouver – good one! I would love to go there and run there too! Great list.
My 5:
NYC Marathon
Chicago Marathon
London Marathon
Paris Marathon
Grand Canyon Rim to Rim Hike
I would love to run Paris as well! Vancouver is a beautiful city. I loved running around Stanley Park 🙂
