Observing Palm Sunday With Inspirational Words

Today we are observing Palm Sunday, the last Sunday in Lent. Many churches use the palm fronds from Palm Sunday to make ashes for the next year’s Ash Wednesday. I love that symbolism and reminder that the Lenten season of repentance is deeply connected to Jesus’ sacrifice on Good Friday and His resurrection on Easter Sunday.

Ash Wednesday

After I made an effort to recommit to my Lenten practices, I have been more faithful in listening to the Daily Prayer Podcasts and focusing on a lesson or prayer from the readings. Here are some of the passages that resonated with me.

If you are interested in renewing your commitment to daily Scripture reading, I would encourage you to check out the Daily Prayer Podcasts by David Guthrie. Each podcast includes an opening collect, readings from the Bible (usually one each from the Old Testament and the New Testament, and often a Psalm), and closing prayers, including the Lord’s Prayer. I think the prayers are based on the New Zealand Book of Common Prayer (Anglican)–they are familiar but some of the wording is a bit different from the Book of Common Prayer that we usually use.

Have you followed through with your observation of Lent?

Do you have special plans for Easter?

I failed miserably at trying to observe Lent.
We don’t have big plans for Easter – holidays like this sort of stress me because we don’t have family to spend the day with.

I understand that. (((Hugs))) I’m going to church as usual and have a massage in the afternoon if I can wait that long!
