Yesterday was full of surprises–some good, some not so good.
I was going to run outside, but after I saw a warning about icy road conditions and encountered a few slick spots while I was walking my dog, I decided that my treadmill was a safer option. As I was cooling down I noticed that our hot water heater was making strange noises. As I got closer to investigate–SURPRISE!–I found myself standing in a puddle. Our hot water heater was leaking! Luckily it is seated on a concrete flood next to a drain, so no damage was done, but I had to shower quickly so I could turn the water off, and now we have to muddle through with no hot water until it gets replaced (hopefully today!).
My son has a bad track record with phones. When he was younger he drowned at least one phone by jumping into the pool forgetting that it was in the pocket of his swimming trunks. He’s had his phone stolen a few times, including last August. Yesterday, he dropped it on a hard floor and smashed the screen to smithereens. (My phone met a similar fate a few months ago, but since only the glass was broken I was able to get it fixed at a mall kiosk.) When we went to the AT&T store to see how much it was going to cost to replace it–SURPRISE!–they had added insurance to his line when we replaced his phone in August.
I can’t imagine that I had agreed to add insurance–I usually reject all extra offers like that–but there it was on my receipt. I still think paying $6.99 a month for the privilege of being able to replace a broken or stolen phone for “only” $125 is a rip-off, but I guess it’s less of a rip-off than having to pay $300 to replace a broken phone. :-/
When I got home from all that–SURPRISE!–I had a package waiting for me from one of my BBFs (best blogger friends).
Now that surprise is something to smile about!
Do you like surprises?
Do you have insurance on your phone?
Yay! I’m so glad you like the shirt and that it fits!! I got it in the maroon color.
You just reminded me that we got insurance on Dancing Girl’s phone last year and they discussed that after 9 months or so, it paid to cancel the insurance… now I need to look into that. Sorry about your water heater. Better finding out early than finding out when you couldn’t take a hot shower on a snowy morning 🙂
I don’t understand all those phone plan shenanigans!
I love surprises (the good kind).
I only did the phone insurance once and the one time I tried to use it they said the insurance didn’t cover my issue!!! I do have an Otter box on both my phones and my new iPad mini to try and prevent shattered screens!
Cute T-shirt!!
Oh the surprises!! I am ambivalent about surprises. I hope that your hot water heater gets replaced quickly. Love the #runner shirt!
Thanks, luckily we got a new one installed today, so I could run the dishwasher and wash the sink full of dishes that piled up since yesterday! We’re supposed to get warm weather this weekend, so I might even be able to wear my shirt.
