It’s been a while since I’ve written a “Thirsty Thursday” post and shared some of the new beers I’ve tried. My grocery store has a decent selection of beer, and has a section where you can mix-and-match your own six-pack from a variety of loose bottles. A few weeks ago I took a gamble and chose two of each of these three beers.
As much as I like Belgian ales, I also find that I like many IPAs. This was a good one with a robust flavor–although it packs a wallop at 7.9% ABV.
From the Lancaster Brewing website:
India Pale Ale has a hop aroma that demands attention. The bold, citrus hop flavor is balanced by a dry malt character that makes this refreshing ale a true classic.
This beer has a stronger flavor than the Hop Hog, and I probably like it a bit better. I has a similar alcohol content–about 7.25% ABV.
From the Heavy Seas website:
Our flagship beer, Loose Cannon wins people over at first smell. The carefully cultivated interplay of Simcoe, Palisade, and Centennial creates a most fragrant IPA—its nose bursts with notes of grapefruit, herbs, and pine. Bitterness is somewhat subdued by the floral quality that pervades the taste. The color is burnished gold, and the mouthfeel is creamy. A strong malt backbone balances out the triple-hopped beer. Its nickname, Hop3, comes from the brewing process: our brewers hop Loose Cannon in the boil, the hopback, and the fermenter.
I’m not even ready for pumpkin ales, but I can’t resist cranberries. This is labeled as a “cranberry ale,” and it’s not as fruity as a cranberry lambic. It has a lower alcohol content of 5.9% ABV.
From the Harpoon website:
A cranberry ale brewed with Thanksgiving and charity in mind.
Now that I’ve been going to spin class after work on Thursdays, I need a quick dinner that will satisfy that post-spin hunger. I often decide to make a Kashi pizza because they cook really quickly.
This was a roasted vegetable pizza, but I added some slivered Kalamata olives and feta cheese to make it that much better. Isn’t it funny how all of the broccoli ended up on one side? My huasband was happy to give me that half! 😉
What’s your go-to super-fast dinner?
Is there a frozen pizza that you like?
Oh – I was thinking I needed to try the Kashi pizza but it was the olives that was drawing me in – I guess I could add my own like you did!
And, I'm all about Thirsty Thursday!!! My husband likes a good Belgian beer – I'm more of a really light colored beer drinker or wine!!!
trader joe's has the best frozen pizza!! the roasted vegetable one is my favorite – itz cheeseless and even my husband LOVES it!!
