Back in March I participated in a Twitter chat with Fitfluential and Diet To Go, and was randomly selected as a winner of a week’s worth of Diet To Go meals. Since I had given up meat for Lent, I chose the vegetarian option. I know lots of people who are interested in this program, so I thought I would write up a short Diet To Go meals review.
Here is a snapshot of what they sent me.
Since I am not trying to lose weight, I used the meals as “convenience” meals for lunch and dinner. While some meals were better than others, I really was impressed by the quality, variety, and taste. Here’s a look at some of my favorites.
Shaw’s Shepherd’s Pie
Loved the generous portion of asparagus.
So many “diet” meals skimp on the veggies which makes no sense!
Texas Tofu Chili
This chili was really good. I didn’t use the cheese and sour cream,
but I enjoyed every morsel of the corn bread.
Asian Soy over Sesame Rice
I took me a while to try this one because I wasn’t sure about the “soy nuggets”
but it was delicious! I think the rice had water chestnuts in it, which added a nice crunch, and again, look at all those veggies!
My husband thought I should take this picture of the after-dinner “dishes’ to emphasize how easy these meals are. 🙂
I still haven’t tried many of the breakfasts but I turned the fruit and granola parfait into a yummy smoothie (with the granola on the side).
If I were a Diet To Go customer, I would have been able to tailor the meals to my preferences, but I was still very pleased with the random vegetarian selection. If I were trying to lose weight, I think this would be a great alternative to other frozen entrees, and if I didn’t have a family to cook for, I think a few weeks of meals would be a great option to get me through a busy work schedule.
Have you ever used a meal delivery service?Â
Do you eat frozen entrees from Amy’s, Kashi, Lean Cuisine, Weight Watchers or Healthy Choice?Â
i tried diet to go before too and used it more as a convenience factor – definitely tasty meals! a big higher in sodium than i would prefer, but still good in a crunch.
I've never tried frozen meals …I like making mine fresh knowing exactly what I put into my food 🙂 I'm grateful for the time have to do so, definitely!
I can most certainly appreciate the convenience though!
I love Amy's frozen entrees, especially the mexican and indian food.
theres a pick up place in oakland and the husband is LONGING TO TRY!!
I tried it and loved how convenient it was, but it was expense on a school teacher salary. Pros and cons.
Wow – looks like great easy healthy meals.
I like Amy's and Kashi entrees, but do not eat them very often – Agree with Sonja that Amy's mex and indian are very good. I've seen Diet to Go at the gym. Thanks for the review – I had wondered about the meal quality.
