10 Minute Yoga Routine (Stretches)

I try to do one of the 25 minute yoga routines on my Rodney Yee DVD at least once a week, but sometimes even 25 minutes seems to long. This Sunday I was crunched for time before church, but knew my body could use some yoga. I decided to do my favorite poses while waiting for my coffee to brew and came up with this 10 minute yoga routine that includes some good stretches for runners.

Holding each pose for 1 minute (per side, where applicable)
actually takes 12 minutes. 😉

Do you have a go-to workout for days when you are really short on time?

Superman Man Of Steel

Did you see Man of Steel this weekend (the new Superman movie now playing in theaters)? When you watch action movies, do you wonder how the stars got so fit? I love watching those behind-the-scenes shows that give you a glimpse of the workouts that gave the stars those arms, those shoulders, or those abs. Now that I do my own humble strength workouts on a pretty regular basis, I have a greater appreciation for what it takes to transform the shape of your body. Continue reading

I Am Not Fearless (What’s Beautiful)

It’s been a few weeks since I wrote an update on my Under Armour What’s Beautiful goals. (I am working with Under Armour and Fitfluential to promote the Under Armour What’s Beautiful campaign to redefine the female athlete by setting epic goals and pushing past where we’ve ever been and where we thought we could go. If you haven’t visited the Under Armour What’s Beautiful site, you are missing out on some awesome inspiration and serious motivation!)

While my main goal is to
Run faster, get stronger, and remember to breathe.

Father’s Day Cards

As many of you know, I lost my Dad suddenly to heart failure in March of 2011, so this is my third Father’s Day without my Dad. The first year was hard, of course, but last year I was more focused on my husband, and our soon-to-be empty nest. This year I am feeling sad again. Maybe it’s because I just ran the Lawyers Have Heart 10K and raised money for the American Heart Association in his honor, but I feel like I’ve been thinking about him more, and missing him more.
