Cherry Blossoms Biking Tour

This weekend my husband and I decided to go on our own cherry blossoms biking tour. We parked along the GW Parkway in Virginia, and rode our bikes over the 14 Street Bridge to the Jefferson Memorial, Tidal Basin, and Hains Point.

Not all of the trees are in bloom yet!

It’s hard to match the pictures I took on my sunrise run last year, but I think these are worth sharing.  Continue reading

The 30th GW Parkway Classic 10 Miler

Sometimes I wonder if one reason I love running so much is because of where I get to run. When I started running I mostly ran on the Mount Vernon Trail, along the Potomac River between Mount Vernon and Old Town in Alexandria, Virginia. My first race was the 5K of the George Washington Parkway Classic which now follows the same route, but on the road. It deserves its accolades as the “Prettiest run this side of the Potomac!” (And I want to know, what race is prettier on the other side?!)

It’s also one of most well-organized races I’ve run, which is another reason I keep signing up year after year, even when it means back-to-back race weekends with the Cherry Blossom Ten Miler. Inspired To Cook By The Runner’s World Cookbook

Inspiration For Meal Planning

I hate meal planning and deciding what to fix for dinner, but after a long day at work I would rather cobble together something at home than make a stop for take-out, so I try to plan and shop for at least a few healthy meals each week. I found several good recipes from Laura’s weekly meal planning link-ups, but still felt like I was in a rut. When I had an opportunity to review the Runner’s World Cookbook, I jumped at the chance, hoping that it would make me a more inspired cook again.
