Do You Know Blood Clot Symptoms And Risk Factors?

I usually write about my experience getting a blood clot in my leg on my birthday, but March is National Blood Clot Awareness Month, and I was invited to participate in a webinar so I could learn and share important information about blood clots, so here goes.

Gearing Up For Spring

The review in this post is sponsored by Tommie Copper. All content and opinions are my own.

Now that it is spring, one thing I am looking forward to is being able to go for a run without having to bundle up in multiple layers. I get really warm when I run, so in winter I have to choose between being cold for the first 1/2 mile or so, or being too warm for the rest of my run. I usually decide to suck it up when I start out, but it’s not fun.

In just two weeks I will be running my first race of 2014–the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile run. While it’s too soon to start checking the weather, I hope that I won’t need to wear the cold weather running gear that’s gotten me through this winter. Continue reading

Does God Care What I Eat?

I recently joined a new Facebook Group called Faith & Fitness Inspired (#FFInspired). While I always have written about both faith and fitness on this blog, my blog posts usually are about faith or fitness, and I rarely consider how faith and fitness go hand-in-hand. I hope this group will inspire me take a more holistic approach to blogging and life in general, because I do believe that being healthy can serve my faith, and vice versa.

Help Me Support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals

In just a few weeks I will be running my first race of 2014–the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Ten Mile Run. I’ve always known that proceeds from this race support Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, but this year I’ve decided to do additional fundraising to support this important cause.

According to information from the organizers, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® raises funds and awareness for 170 member hospitals that provide 32 million treatments each year to kids across the U.S. and Canada. Donations stay local to fund critical treatments and healthcare services, pediatric medical equipment and charitable care. Since 1983, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals has raised more than $4.7 billion.

Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals® raises most of its donations through its $1 Miracle Balloons. I would love it if you would make a donation through my fundraising page.

CMNH Miracle Balloon

Last week I sponsored a fundraising “jeans day” at work (people are ask to make a $5 donation in exchange for the privilege of wearing jeans), and my generous coworkers donated over $500 to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals! As relentlessly demanding as it is, I do love my job, and the great people I work with are a very important reason I feel that way.

Do you have a Children’s Miracle Network Hospital near you?

Have you ever had to take a child to a hospital?

3 Easy Recipes With 3 Ingredients Or Less

In case you haven’t noticed by now, I like to keep my recipes simple. My most popular post is my recipe for Easy No-Bake Oatmeal Peanut Butter Balls, and a search for “easy” on this blog will pull up several other recipe posts. I am always interested when I come across easy recipes on the internet, but I also am skeptical and worry that my family won’t fall for the shortcuts. Recently I tried three ridiculously easy recipes with 3 ingredients or less, and they all passed the family taste test.
