Celebrate National Walking Day

The American Heart Association is sponsoring National Walking Day to encourage everyone to take at least 30 minutes out of their day to get up and walk.

National Walking Day

I usually support the American Heart Association through the annual Lawyers Have Heart 10K, and this program makes me even prouder to be a supporter, because it hits me right where I live.   Continue reading

Sharp Objects Book Review

I’ve read a lot of good books since I started my monthly book review posts last year, but this month my luck ran out. Sharp Objects was my least favorite Gillian Flynn book and the only reason I kept reading The Glass Castle was to see if it got any better.

My First 5K

I still have my race bib from my first 5K.

My First 5K

My first 5K was the George Washington Parkway Classic 5K on April 22, 2001, and that was back when the course ended at Mt. Vernon, meaning that the last 1/3 of that 5K was a steady uphill climb.

Next weekend, a lot of people will be running their first 5K at the Cherry Blossom Ten Mile run. I’ve put together a list of “5 Tips For Your First 5k,” and I’d love for you to share your advice for first-timers over on the Credit Union Cherry Blossom Run blog. I’m pretty sure I needed the advice about not starting off too fast, although I am still learning that lesson. 😛

Mediterranean Chicken Spinach Bake

This is a rare What I Ate Wednesday post, because it really is about what I ate Wednesday–last Wednesday anyway! I know that I had chicken to cook, but I wasn’t sure what to do with it.

I had just seen Kim’s post with her delicious Chicken Spinach Bake, and while I knew I didn’t have the fresh ingredients to make her recipe, I thought I might have enough similar ingredients on hand to make a decent variation. It turned out good enough for my husband to go back for seconds, so it’s a clear winner in my house! (Please see the full recipe below.)
