How do you recap your 8th time running the Army Ten Miler? I’ll start at the end and then go back to the beginning. I came close to last year’s PR, running it in my second fastest time. My foot was fine. The weather was fantastic. The bridge still sucked but I won that mental battle and finished strong.
One upside to all the traveling I’ve been doing lately is all the books I’ve been able to read while waiting at airports, sitting on planes, and unwinding in my hotel room. I’ve read a serious family saga, science fiction, a contemporary novel, and a celebrity biopic.
The most serious book I read was Trail of Broken Wings by Sejal Badani. Continue reading
When I started this blog five years ago (!) my very first post was about training for the 2010 Army Ten Miler. The next year, I did a whole series of “training log” posts, chronicling six weeks of training. Now, here I am a few days away from my eighth Army Ten Miler and I’ve barely written about it–or thought about it!
Instead of focusing on training for the Army Ten Miler, I’ve been focusing on recovering from my broken foot and ramping up my running without getting hurt again. That means I’ve done a grand total of one hill workout, one track workout, and one 10 mile run. Continue reading
I’ve been a Mizuno girl for ages now. Every once in a while I try a different brand of running shoe, but Mizunos are always my go-to shoes for every day training.
