2025 Year-End Runfessions

Well, it’s the very last Friday of 2025, so I’m sharing my 2025 year-end runfessions. Join me over at  Marcia’s Healthy Slice where we can cleanse our souls soles before we head into the new year.

2025 Year-End Runfessions

It’s that time of year when runners check their Strava and Garmin stats to tally up their miles, but I runfess I only checked mine to see if I was close to ending the year on a round number.

I won’t quite make it to 750 miles

This is what happens when you don’t set goals or follow a plan to reach them. But you know what else happens when I don’t set goals and spend the year chasing after them? I end the year injury-free! I runfess, making it through all of 2025 without being sidelined is a great way to finish strong.

I bikefess my 2025 cycling mileage was almost all on Peloton. I can count on one hand the number of times I rode outside. I think my husband is kind of bummed about that, so I aim to ride with him more in 2026.

Ouch!

I Pelofess, I was surprised my highest month on Peloton was January. It must have been a combination of exploring the features of my new Bike+, doing the Strength for Skiers program, and not being away from home. Just about every other month I had at least one trip that impacted my workout schedule.

I will get over 1300 Peloton bike minutes by the end of the year!

I Pelofess I was not surprised by my “favorite” instructors— Jess Sims (strength, running, walking) , Hannah F. (cycling, walking), and Jon Hoskins (running, walking). I take a variety of other instructors, but these are my go-to for sure!

I gymfess that even though I haven’t been to my office gym in months, I still haven’t fully unpacked my gym bag or put it away. I have raided it for shampoo and other toiletries, so if I do go to the gym I have to remember to re-stock it.

Really, I should just put it away.

What are your 2025 year-end runfessions?

Have you set any 2026 mileage goals?

If you run half a mile in the next few days then you will have a round number! 😂
But you are right, of course, ending the year injury-free beats any round Strava number.
More outdoor riding in 2026 sounds great – your husband will be so happy!

  2. I agree with you that if you don’t chase miles in running, the injury potential is much less. This is also the first year in a long time that I am finishing the year with no injuries or niggles and it feels really great. Andy and Rebecca are my top Peloton instructors and I feel like Iv’e gained a ton of strength this year!

If you ride out this way, let me know and I can ride toward you so we can ride together for a bit. Or better yet, let’s get Deborah back outside on her bike and the three of us can ride together again!

For 2026 I am not setting any mileage goals and it feels so good! My 2026 motto is going to be quality over quantity – I just came up with that as I typed.

  4. Like you, I don’t believe in chasing “numbers.” They are a great incentive, but it’s often too easy to bypass the niggles in striving for a certain number (I’ve been guilty of that in the past). I haven’t checked any of my year-end numbers yet…I know my running numbers are way down, and I am totally fine with that. My wonky hip/TFL (and cranky toe, LOL) altered a lot of my activity this Fall. Thankfully the toe is almost all better, and the hip thing is feeling MUCH better these days. Onward to ‘26!

My miles ae the lowest ever… I thought of running more miles just to beat last year (which was the lowest until this year).
    Nope snowstorm on the way…

I recently commented that you can’t measure success in numbers so I’m sticking with all my low numbers.

    I ended the year healthy…

Ending the year healthy is fantastic! I like your thoughts about not measuring success in numbers — but numbers are how success is defined at work. :-/

  6. Marcia says:

Congrats on injury free! I guess I’ve had a nagging injury all year long, but 2026 will be the year it gets resolved. I didn’t realize you didn’t log many bike miles outside. I’ve been an inside girl on that front as well.

  7. Jenn says:

Injury free is the best way to be! I love that for you!
