Holding Out For My 1500th Peloton Strength Class

So last week I carefully planned out my Peloton strength classes to time my 1500th for Jess Sims’s Monday morning class. Then Sunday evening I learned the class was canceled because she wasn’t feeling well. I decided to hold out for her next live class and take my 1500th Peloton strength class on Friday. Was it worth the wait? Probably not, but it did get me take a few yoga classes in the meantime. 😉

I managed to squeeze in a run to the Washington Monument
before taking that Friday class.

Holding Out For My 1500th Peloton Strength Class

I am a creature of habit—especially when it comes to fitness activities—so switching up my workout routine to push off my 1500th class to Friday was hard. I’ve been starting my day with a 10 min core class for over two years now, so finding a replacement was key. I found another pre-run warm up class with some core moves, and tried two core-focused yoga classes. The change-up was fine, but I’m ready to get back to crunches and planks.

The switch from Monday to Friday also was hard logistically. Monday I could work from home, but I needed to be in the office Friday. If I took a 7 am class at home, I would get to work at least an hour later than usual. On the other hand, taking the class at my office gym raised other issues. Would the wi-fi be working? Would someone else be using the weights? After much debate, I decided to take a gamble on the office gym.

I managed to get out the door early enough to squeeze in a 3-ish mile run to the Washington Monument. I wanted to see the new tunnel they built into the base of the Roosevelt bridge, so walkers, runners, cyclists, and scooters don’t have to share a narrow sidewalk adjacent heavy traffic

Weekly Run Down

The big news in Peloton this week—other than my 1500th strength class—was the Lizzo artist series that launched on Friday. The really big news is that Lizzo showed up in studio and rode—and sang!—during the bike class. I’ve tried to avoid watching too many video clips so I can enjoy the full experience when I take the class this week.

In other good news, my return to running continued to go well. There is still something going on with my right foot, but it’s just a slightly sprained feeling on the top of my foot (from my fall in early June?), not a shooting pain in my ankle. 😛

Monday: 10 min Yoga + 30 min Peloton Ride
I started the week with a long stack of short workouts. I knew Hannah F’s class was going to be intense, so I took an extra warm-up. Then I needed a cool-down ride to catch my breath before I was ready to stretch.

Tuesday: 4.15 Scooby Miles
I nudged my running route up from 3 miles to 4, and it went well.

Wednesday: 60 min Peloton Bike Bootcamp
I snuck some strength in with a 60 min Bike Bootcamp that had two strength blocks. I often stack 60 min of classes, but found it hard to convince myself I had time for a 60 min class before work. The mental hurdles are real!

Thursday: 4.15 Scooby miles + 20 min Yoga
I switched up my route a bit but still ended up with the same mileage as Tuesday. Not sure how that happened!

Friday: Core + 3 mi Run + 30 min FB Strength
My big day! I did end up having to share the small strength area with another woman, but she used 12s and 25s while I used 15s and 20s.

Saturday: Core + Conte’s Hill Ride
I was the only woman on the Conte’s Hill Ride, but I wasn’t last. Well, I usually was last on the descents, but I tried not to be too smug as I passed guys on the hills. 😘

Sunday: Core + 5 Scooby Miles
I think I chose the most humid morning of the year to nudge my distance up to 5 miles. Scooby made sure we took plenty of breaks.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Is July dragging on for anyone else? How can there be two weeks left?

  1. 1500 classes, wow!! That’s a big accomplishment. 1500 more than me ha!

  2. Darlene says:

Great news on your running. Hope you now stay injury-free!!

    Congrats on your Peloton achievement.

Love that monument pic. DC is an awesome place to run…

  3. Marcia says:

Congrats on 1500. That’s fantastic! I did a Lizzo run but I did not know she showed up and rode in person. So fun. Love that new tunnel!

  4. LOL at your long run being on the most humid day; I kind of thought the same way about my long run this week!

Congrats on 1500 ST classes. I have yet to actually hit 100 classes on anything after 2 years LOL — although I’m getting close. 🙂

I loved your photo of the monument!

Congratulations! I liked the story of you putting off the strength class- yes, that would be a little tough logistically because you had to avoid all other strength all week. The big question is, did you get a shout-out?
Glad your foot is feeling better! Oh, and I know what you mean about the “other’ core workouts, like the yoga core focus flows. They’re good, but it’s just not the same. Even the standing core classes, while I like them, don’t give you the same burn. You’ll be happy to get back to normal this week!

I did not get a shoutout this time, but that’s OK. I knew it would be tough in a Lizzo class. She got down to 1900, then skipped to 1000s (she makes a big deal out of “the comma club”) and then did birthdays.

I am looking forward to taking whatever classes I am in the mood for.

  6. Kim at Running on the Fly says:

Congrats on #1500!! I noticed I’m at 99 cycling classes…and I have been there for several months, due to all of my outdoor cycling. I don’t know when I’ll resume indoor cycling classes, so it’ll have to be a BIG class when I finally make it happen. Glad to hear the running is feeling good!

  7. Wendy says:

Oh the logistics we go through when we switch things up! I get it–I’ve had to change things up a few times this summer. Glad you got it done and congrats on 1500!

  8. I’m also a creature of habit and hate to be off schedule! Big congratulations on your 1500. I’m excited to take the Lizzie class tomorrow

  9. I’m happy to hear things with your foot are improving. And big congrats on your 1500th class! I did the Lizzo run and enjoyed it! I’m really looking forward to the ride, but we’ll be away all week so it may be a while before I get to it.

  10. Lizzo classes sound great! I would like those. That’s so cool she participated too! Congrats on that 1,500 ST mark – that’s huge! You get to see some really pretty areas on your run. I have been a super creature of habit lately and always run from my house. So I suppose I could be seeing some more scenic things, but I feel like it takes too much time to drive anywhere, when I could just get done earlier 🙂

  11. therightfits says:

What a fun week! Love the new tunnel, sounds like a much safer option.

    Congrats on 1500!

  12. Catrina says:

Ha, good for you for passing the guy on the uphills on that Conte Ride!
I bet they hated it. 🙂

Well done on the 1’500th strength class AND for getting the logistics right! That took quite a bit of planning!

  13. kookyrunner says:

So bummed that I couldn’t join the strength class live but congrats on hitting another huge milestone, and you picked a fun class for it too!
