We’ve changed to Daylight Saving Time, even overnight temps are above freezing, and flowers are starting to bloom. The world around me is springing forward for sure!

Springing Forward
Some years the spring time change doesn’t phase me. I hop out of bed at my usual time ready to go—even though it’s technically an hour earlier. Other years my body resents every minute of that lost hour. This year fell into the second category. I was wide awake at 11 pm, which led to hitting the snooze button several times when 5 am rolled around that much sooner. I think I’ve finally adjusted but still need to get to bed earlier.
Another thing that comes with spring is spring racing. That brought Darlene into town for the Rock’n’Roll DC Half Marathon. She arrived early on Friday, so we decided to meet for breakfast near my office. It was great to finally meet her in person!

Weekly Wrap
Between trying to sort out what’s going on with my right leg and hitting the snooze button most days, the week ended up being sort of a cut-back week—if you can have a cut-back week without following a training plan.
Sunday: 45 min FB Strength + 35 min Peloton Ride
Another Sunday with Jess Sims for a 45 min strength workout, followed by Cody’s Ke$ha ride. I took it for the playlist but ended up with a PR—Cody used to be known for “fun” rides but he cues some tough intervals these days.
Monday: Core + 20 min UB + 30 min Peloton Ride
I remembered liking Daniel’s System of a Down tread run, so I gave Jess King’s ride a try and learned I don’t really like their style of hard banging heavy metal. 😝
Tuesday: Core + 30 min FB Strength
I took a day off from running and riding and stacked a few short strength classes around Andy’s 30 min class. I tacked on Anna’s yoga warm up for a stretch.
Wednesday: 30 min FB + 25 min Peloton Ride
I paired a recent Jess Sims strength class with an old ride of Hannah’s. I have not done a true HIIT ride in ages and whew it was tough! 🥵
Thursday: Core + 3.5 Scooby Miles
It was a work-from-home-day, and I thought if I waited until 6 to head out I’d get some daylight on this run, but it was just starting to get light as I finished. 🤷♀️
Friday: Core + ALW + 30 min Peloton Ride
I thought CDE’s playlist looked good, but learned that I don’t like cycling to show tunes—at least not big, emotional ones by Barbara Streisand and Liza Minnelli. Give me Dolly Parton all day though! 🎶
Saturday: Core + 5.7 Scooby Miles
I pulled on some calf sleeves to give my leg extra support and took Scooby out for a run. Overall, it felt pretty good. My leg didn’t nag like it did last week, but there’s still something going on. 🤨
A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up throughout the year, and to each of you for stopping by.
Do you have any spring races on your calendar?
Looks like a great workout week for you. The weather was pretty mild ad good for outdoor endeavors. Looking forward to seeing you for lunch today
I can’t believe you and Darlene haven’t met yet! So cool that you finally met in person!
Well, at least that right leg is feeling better than last week. Let’s hope the trend will continue.
It’s actually feeling good today (or not feeling, LOL) — fingers crossed!
Everyone needs a cutback week sometimes! But your “cutback” week still seems pretty impressive. Maybe your leg issue is a thing of the past?
It’s funny that you haven’t met Darlene before today! I haven’t met that many bloggers, but I’ve gotten together with Darlene in person several times. I guess that just shows where she likes to take her vacations. I hope you guys have fun!
Nothing wrong with a cutback week! You stay consistent with all your workouts, so a cutback was well-earned 😉 Sorry your leg is still giving some issues…hoping that eases up!
Ugh sorry to hear about your leg. Hoping you feel better soon. Enjoy your blogger meetup today! How cool to see Darlene IRL a few times this week!
I love that you and Darlene finally got to meet! How exciting!
I’m tentatively hopeful that your leg is almost there? That would be so great to be nag-free!
Hi, Scooby!
Ah, a calf sleeve! I just bought an adjustable one off Amazon for my husband. His leg is really out of whack. No running for the past 2 weeks, and felt awful when he tried again. Will be getting an eval of it this week. I hope yours is behaving!!
So fun that you met up with Darlene 🙂
