Leaping To The February 2024 Coffee Date

If we were having coffee, I would ask if you even realized 2024 is a leap year? I haven’t seen or heard much about it. Maybe now that the month is upon us there will be sales and promotions celebrating the extra day.

If we were having coffee, I would ask if it’s too late to share my 2023 recap from Starbucks? They didn’t send it to me until after our January coffee date, but I think they did a nice job of picking fun facts to highlight.

If we were having coffee
, I would show you the puzzle I completed in January—another snowy one!

It was bittersweet doing it, since I don’t think I’ll be going skiing this year.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I eked my way past my firm’s billable hour requirement for our fiscal year that ended January 31. Although everyone assured me that close enough was good enough and wouldn’t make a difference, my rule-following, goal-chasing self had to check that box. I was about to log off for the day on January 31 when I saw I was only 1.3 hours short, so I sucked it up and worked for another 1.5 hours. I know nobody cares but me, but I feel better for having met that benchmark. 👩‍💼

  1. Michelle says:

I had no idea that Starbucks sends out a yearly recap.

What a fun puzzle! You always manage to come up with some good ones!

  2. Darlene S. Cardillo says:

    Hey why didn’t I get a recap?

    That’s a pretty puzzle.

    It’s leap year? lol

  3. Marcia says:

I’d have done the same thing with the billable hours. I’m a rule follower haha! Love that puzzle! I did not realize this is a leap year. Thanks for the heads up!

  4. Jenny says:

I did know it’s a leap year! Right now I have no big plans for the “extra” day (I see February 29th is a Thursday) but I’ll have to come up with something.
You and my husband have the same favorite Starbucks drink : )
I love that puzzle! I’m still suffering from puzzle inferiority complex because we failed to put together our 500 piece Christmas puzzle… but maybe I can redeem myself next year (the puzzle is packed away, waiting for us.)

  5. You do love your Starbucks! Ha I completely avoid it and pick any other option when available LOL so if we meet for coffee, it will hopefully not be a Starbucks. I find it so bitter tasting. Glad you were able to hit your fiscal billing numbers-it seems like you work a lot of hours to me! Happy February!

  6. I’m a rule-follower & would have done the same, LOL. I didn’t know Starbucks did monthly summaries like that. Probably a good thing I don’t have one in my area or I’d get a warning on exceeding the chai lattes limit.

  7. Catrina says:

Haha, nice one with the billable hours, Coco! I remember you were worrying about it a few weeks ago – but you nailed it!

That a nice Starbucks summary of 2023 – but they cleverly skipped the most important metric: how many $$ you left there.
But I know how comforting a Starbucks can be on a stressful day, so I’m sure the money was worth it!

  8. You definitely are a Starbucks App expert – LOL!

I did realize it was a Leap Year! One of my friends will be 12 (48 years old) this year. LOL

I would have worked the extra 1.5, too! That’s also how I roll. LOL

  9. That’s cool to see all the stats from Starbucks! I’m not a coffee drinker, but I love being loyal to places and would definitely get a kick out of all the metrics.

I think I would have done the same thing with the billable hours lol. Is it a surprise that many of us runners are like this? LOL!

    • Coco says:

I guess it’s not really a surprise that people who would lap a block to round up their run distance would work that extra hour!

  10. Farrah says:

haha, I do feel like they usually advertise the hecks out of when it’s a leap year, but I haven’t seen much of that this year. Maybe the world is just tired..

That’s cute that Starbucks does a yearly recap! I like the one I get from Spotify, hehe.

  11. Renée says:

Yes I did realise it was leap year – of course parkrun related, we actually launched that day in 2020 so it’s our dutch birthday!

    that puzzle is so cool!

so what is the billable hours thing? hours that you have to work for client(s) throughout the year? like a minimum?

    • Coco says:

Yes, billable hours are hours charged to clients, and there are certain goals for that. I also spend a few hundred hours on marketing, mentoring, etc. Those are essential but never “count” as much.

  12. I did realize it was a leap year! This teacher is already planning some activities for her students. Cool recap from Starbucks! I don’t think I got one. They might have and I deleted it since many times I don’t read all of their emails.

  13. Jenn says:

I would have also worked that extra 1.5 hours. That’s just how I roll.
    I didn’t get a Starbucks recap either!

  14. Cari says:

Yay on billable hours. Funny how every entity seems to have a different fiscal. Even hamstring aside, the lack of snow is keeping so many from skiing. Maybe it’s snowy puzzles fault ;-D
