Turning The Tables At The May Ultimate Coffee Date

Instead of sharing what is going on in my life, this month I am turning the tables and asking you to fill me in, because frankly, I’ve got nothing.

If we were having coffee, I would ask you about your summer vacation plans, because I’ve got none. No plans to visit my daughter in Colorado (yet). No time booked at the beach (yet). Not even a Farm To Fork Fondo ride–this year’s Pennsylvania Dutch event collides with a work conference. 🙁

If we were having coffee, I would ask if you’ve read any good books lately. I am still making my way through Demon Copperhead by Barbara Kingsolver. I am thoroughly enjoying it, but didn’t have as much time to read on the plane to Chicago as I hoped.

If we were having coffee, I would ask if you’ve done any puzzles this month. 😉 I didn’t even start one in April, but my fingers are itching to tackle a new one.

This one could take a while …

If we were having coffee, I would thank you for supporting my fundraising efforts for the American Heart Association. They had a cute post on Facebook yesterday tied to the Star Wars May 4th hype.

Maybe it’s my age, but the cadence of Staying Alive is more familiar to me.

What would you tell me over coffee?

I read The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver when I was in high school and really liked it! I’ve been meaning to check out more of her books! 😀

    That new puzzle looks pretty!

I hope you get to do some cool travels at some point this year!

  2. The new puzzle looks challenging but fun! No travel plans yet but I would like to go to Mexico. Let me know the next time you are in Chicago and I will meet up with you.

  3. Wendy says:

I loved Demon Copperhead, as you know. I’ve read most of her books and they don’t disappoint.

Such a shame that you have to miss Farm to Fork Fondo because of work. Ugh.

  4. We don’t have any plans right now, but we might go visit my MIL & SIL. The hard part is that my husband always thinks he can just get something, somewhere, without planning — and it’s not always the case.

I’m so sorry that work interferes with Farm to Fondo! That’s just so sad.

    • Coco says:

I am the opposite from your husband. I want to plan the perfect vacation and so get bogged down in details and indecision.

  5. My summer plans are nothing grandiose either. I do have a few races (obviously, LOL), and am excited for RAGBRAI…the route is actually coming through my town, though my town isn’t one of the “overnight” towns.

  6. Michelle says:

Staying Alive is more familiar to me too 🙂

I haven’t read Demon Cooperhead yet – it’s on my growing list of “must reads”

That’s a bummer about Farm to Fondo. Is there another ride you can do as a substitute?

    • Coco says:

All the locations we are interested in conflict with other things — or would require driving up 95 on a holiday weekend.

  7. We are in full planning mode for lots of summer travel. I am excited to join my hubs on a few work trips and also some fun trips. I do usually read much more in the summer as well but not on planes. I am kind of over puzzles after 2020

  8. Marcia says:

Perhaps a quiet month is a good thing. Maybe the lull before all hell (in a good way) breaks loose. Lol! We have an African safari on tap for June. I’ve been quiet about it cuz I still can’t believe it’s happening.

  9. Jenny says:

Ha ha, when I took my CPR course the instructor told us to do chest compressions to the cadence of either “Staying Alive” or “Another One Bites the Dust.”
I have no summer vacation plans either, unless you count taking my daughter to camp up in Tallahassee. I’ll probably stay over one night and do something on my way home… and that might be my only “vacation” until I help my son drive to school in August. I know, I really know how to live it up with my luxury trips!

  10. Just started discussing a late June trip to Sweden and Denmark with my SIL and her family and I’m going to California again for Mountains2Beach Marathon on 5/21.

I loved Des Linden’s Choosing to Run and Rebecca Makkai’s I have some questions for you.

    • Coco says:

That sounds like a good trip! I need to go to Copenhagen for work but have to plan around all their summer holidays!

  11. Jenn says:

I am stuck in the middle of Lessons in Chemistry right now. I’m fairly triggered by it.

Not much for summer plans, either. The boys are going out West, while A hikes Philmont, but I will be home with the pugs. And then we will see.

  12. Aww, I’m sorry you will be missing the Farm to Fork Fondo. I know how much you enjoy that. Most of my summer plans consist of where every my sister ( the flight attendant) takes me…lol.

  13. Renée says:

We are going to Palermo for summer holidays, but… actually it’s late summer, the 1st of September until the 15th. I. Can’t. WAIT! Since I’m new at my job, of course all my (insufferable) colleagues have already claimed their stake on all things summer so I have to wait. Fine. I’ll wait. And then I’ll spend my 55th birthday in Sicilian Heaven.

Yes, it’s also “Staying Alive” for me as well. I may be taking a refresher course through work soon. Wonder if the “tune” will be updated?

  14. Darlene S. Cardillo says:

No travel plans for me once I return from Florida.
I’m reading Horse. I like it so far.

That’s too bad about your bike ride. Hope you do another fun biking event.

  15. I would like to go to Mexico this Summer. My oldest sister lives there and she was just here this week and encouraging me to go. I finally got a copy of Desi’s book and am excited to read it.

  16. I just noticed that I posted two comments to your post. Now this will be my 3rd one. 🙂
