Five Birthday Wishes

Fifty-one years ago today I made my debut on this planet. While 51 isn’t as big a deal as 50, I’m glad to be celebrating another lap around the sun–that’s a much better way to look at it than getting older, don’t you think?

Four year old me

I’ve been making wishes on my birthday candles for as long as I can remember, and today I’m sharing my birthday wishes with you.

Five Wishes On My Birthday

My first birthday wish is that you read–and share–one of my posts about the birthday I skipped. It’s an important story that could save your life. It happened 20 years ago today, but I still remember it like yesterday.

My second birthday wish
is that you take my annual birthday message to heart and do something you’ve been putting off to take care of yourself. Schedule that doctor’s appointment, get that mammogram, check your blood pressure.

My third birthday wish
is that you refresh your knowledge on the symptoms of heart attack and stroke, and the “hard to recognize symptoms” that are more common in women.

I don’t know if Mayiah experienced any of these symptoms, but I care even more about spreading the word after losing her.

My fourth birthday wish is that you consider donating to my Facebook Birthday fundraiser for the American Heart Association.

It ends on Monday, so don’t procrastinate!

My fifth birthday wish is that all of these wishes come true–even though I’ve shared them with you. 🙂

How do you like to celebrate your birthday?

Happy Birthday! Here’s to all of your wishes coming true. That is an adorable pic of you.

  2. Have a wonderful birthday, Coco! Those are all great wishes.

Because my birthday is a holiday, it actually tends to be a rather quiet day. Usually I get a message and we go out to dinner. This year I’m hoping we celebrate in Savannah. 🙂

  3. Laurie says:

Happy birthday! You have 5 awesome wishes. I hope they come true, too.

  4. Happy Birthday! I also had a birthday recently and I went to Vegas to run rock n roll.

  6. Happiest of birthdays to you, COCO!!! I always celebrate my birthday with 3.14 miles on my birthday….are you gonna run 11.16 miles? 😉

Happy birthday! This is a great list. I hadn’t seen that information on the heart attack symptoms before, thanks for sharing.

  10. Happy Birthday! Wow, I didn’t know about your birthday story – scary!

  11. Oh my I just read your birthday post. That is so scary but I guess you learned a good lesson. I am so catastrophic as I get older so I would have been convinced right away I had a blood clot and have gone right to the dr. In fact that happened to me like two years ago… I convinced myself I had a blood clot and went to the Urgent Care. I didn’t have one.

Happy Birthday! I’m glad you aren’t struggling with 51. I felt like that was harder than 50 because it felt like I was in the 50s. I know it’s so dumb, but getting older has not been an easy concept for me. You seem to be doing it so well.

I’ve been taking care of all those old lady things–had my mammogram, my physical, did the cologuard test and coming up is my derm appointment. I hope all your wishes come true!

    • Coco says:

I really don’t think about age that often. I still think I’m young. 😉 I did a bunch of those appointments last year but still have more to do — or do again. I still need to find a new GP.

  13. Darlene says:

Happy Burthday. Hope all your wishes come true

I try to be on vacation in Florida with my friends for my birthday.

  14. Renėe says:

Happy birthday Coco! What a scary experience you had with DVT. I’m so glad it was no worse! I recently had my lady check ( we only have them from the age of 50) and I called last summer about when my mammogram would be and I have another year to wait for that. In a way you’ve also now reminded me to renew my first-aid certificate.

Hope you had a good day and started off your new trip around the sun with a bang!

Happy Birthday! I love all of your wishes and hope they come true 🙂

    Happy birthday!
So important to be here to celebrate this ride on a trip around the sun, in the words of the almighty poet Jimmy Buffet.
I donate to the local heart association in memory of Dad. I’ll go that route for your bday fundraiser too
Mom and I have a joke that my birthday season starts the day after hers. We normally celebrate it this weekend, but plans got in the way. Birthweek did kick off yesterday with work donuts, then dinner with mom & Bob, then will do something day of with my brother and sister in law over the holiday weekend.

    • Coco says:

Happy birthday and thank you for supporting the American Heart Association! My daughter’s birthday is a few days after mine, so for a long time hers took precedent! Nice to celebrate with your Mom!

  17. Happy, happy birthday Coco! I hope you had a wonderful birthday and a great year to come!

  18. I love these birthday wishes! It is so important to take care of our health!
I hope you had a great birthday and another great trip around the sun!

  19. Happy Belated Birthday! Taking care of ourselves is so incredibly important. The first wish on your list has been granted. 🙂
