Jumping Into January

If I missed you at our January coffee date—Happy New Year! I like how the holiday fell towards the end of the week so I have time to ease into the new year before I have to jump back into work on Monday.

Do you have your new calendars and planners yet?

Jumping Into January

After checking my Garmin data last week and thinking 750 miles was out of reach, I still took Scooby out for a few runs.

5.25 miles Sunday

4.6 miles Monday

By New Year’s Eve I was only 4.1 miles short, so I had to get it done! It was too cold for a dark o’clock run, but I hopped on my treadmill and logged 4.5 miles to cross that finish line!

Woohoo!

After ringing in the new year with a quiet evening at home I was ready to jump into a new year of Peloton workouts with Jess King’s New Year’s Eve ride. She always does an amazing class for NYE and this one had a fun cruise ship casino theme.

I really like several Peloton strength classes I took this week, and bookmarked them to do again.

Rebecca’s class was part of the year-end music countdown series,
but is a solid class on its own.

If you’re looking to up your push-up game, this one sneaks in 50 reps!

Two short lower-body workouts were good pre-run warm-ups.

This new one from Andy has all the moves I like to do before a run.

This old one from Ben squeezes in two circuits,
each starting with a body weight round before 2 rounds with weights.

You can tell from the different background this one is an oldie,
so check it out before it’s purged!

My first run of 2026 was a chilly one—6.25 miles to kick off the year!

It feels like we’ve had grey skies forever.

Other than deciding to repeat week one of Emma’s new core program, I haven’t planned anything out for January, or for 2026 if I’m being honest. I guess I’m just jumping back in to my usual routine with new energy for the new year.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Do you have any fitness goals for 2026?

I liked that Rebecca class too! Those pushups were broken up well and very sneaky but effective. I’ll have to add the Jess K cycle class to my list. Looks like your new year is off to a strong start!

Sounds like you’re starting the New Year off strong (literally). Congrats on reaching that 750 mile goal! It must have felt good to get that done before ringing in the New Year.
I haven’t done any 2026 planning or goal setting yet. My brain just can’t seem to get past the holidays. I’m taking down all the remaining decorations in the next couple days, so maybe I’ll feel the New Year energy then.

Nice job on hitting 750 miles, Coco! You were so close you HAD to do it! 🙂

    Happy New Year!

Wow, 50 push-ups – that’s savage! And you made it to 750 miles – well done!
I’ve been thinking a lot about fitness goals lately, because I’ve felt for so long that I don’t have any real goals. But of course I do, it’s just that “continue getting stronger” is too vague for my liking and I’d like to have somehing more measurable.
My primary goals for 2026 is to have a better and more consistent routine (outside the gym too) and do some movement every day, push my walking & hiking distances when that season comes, stay injury- and niggle-free, and I’d love to be able to squat my bodyweight again.

  5. Nice work on those 750 miles!! I have not totaled up my year-end totals yet. I know they’re probably on my Garmin, but there are a lot of extras that aren’t on there (like Max walks). I did that Rebecca class, too. I didn’t mind the push-ups, but I thought it was really fast-paced and I had a tough time keeping up with her, LOL.

  6. Wendy says:

Congrats on 750 miles this year! I haven’t set any goals for 2026 either, but you know there will be a lot of trail miles. I’m hoping to get so Ice Age Trail challenges done–I’ll share more on that in upcoming posts.

You were so consistent in 2025!

  7. Catrina says:

Yay for 750 miles! Well done, especially in view of your hectic job with a lot of travelling.
One of my goals is to finally master the handstand… let’s see if I finally reach it this year, ha!

  8. Melissa says:

Congrats on those 2025 miles!! 750 is a ton of mileage, especially with everything you have going on. i also haven’t set any real 2026 goals – I just want to stay injury free for as long as possible, run a half marathon, and be my best self. Same as every year I suppose 🙂

Happy New Year! And hello, sweet Scooby!

I love the idea of jumping back into the routine. that’s so much more sustainable than making all kinds of daunting goals!
