Coffee Date Down Under

Welcome to the 🍁 November 🍁 Ultimate Coffee Date. I’ve joined coffee dates from Switzerland and Denmark but this is the first time I’m joining from down under in Australia! No matter where you are, you are welcome to join the virtual coffee date link-up Deborah and I host the first Friday of every month.

Coffee Date Down Under

If we were having coffee, I would tell you that while work brought me to Australia, I am planning to fit in a bit of fun. This weekend I’ll be exploring Melbourne and next Sunday—my birthday—I’ll be taking a cruise around Sydney Harbor. In the meantime, I’ll be visiting clients I’ve only seen on TEAMS and making connections with Australian and European patent attorneys presenting at the same workshops. I’m generally an introvert, but enjoy connecting with people in smaller settings.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you it’s a bit ironic I’m returning to Australia for my birthday. It was on the birthday I skipped on my way to Australia in 2008 that I got a DVT—and managed to delay seeking medical treatment until after Thanksgiving a few weeks later.

Don’t be like me—know the signs and get evaluated!

If we were having coffee, I would whine about how much I am missing my office Starbucks. I’ve been making do with Starbucks K-Cups, but it’s really not the same. I made sure my hotels in Chicago and Boston still had a Starbucks nearby, but coffee-fess I ended up getting Dunkin at Logan airport.

Let the record show I only got Dunkin coffee to go with my Dunkin donut.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you I hope crossing the international date line doesn’t mess up my Peloton streak. I think it will keep tracking days based on U.S. East Coast time, so as long as I don’t let 24 hours pass between Peloton classes, I should be OK.

My streak as of November 1

    Australia! Exciting!
I think I would have added a three-week holiday to that business trip! Can you stay a bit longer and do a bit of travelling?
    I hope you’ll find a good Starbucks in Sydney/Melbourne!

  2. Melissa says:

Ooh have fun! How exciting. Hope that you are able to keep up with your streak!

  3. Debbie says:

Have a wonderful trip and birthday! I’d forgotten all about your blood clot. Please stay safe – I know you will now that you’re aware of what to watch for.

  4. Marcia says:

Enjoy your trip and your birthday! We’ve been trying to make it to Australia for awhile now and for one reason or another it hasn’t worked out. I think my longest trip was to South Africa, with Japan in second place.

  5. Michelle says:

I hope you have a great trip – so glad you have something fun planned for your birthday!

My furthest travel was Singapore. Australia is on my bucket list.

  6. Darlene S Cardillo says:

How exciting… a great birthday present.

I bring Starbucks kcups when I travel… just in case. LOL

  7. So much fun! Glad you don’t have to skip your birthday this year and hoping for no DVTs!

The furthest I’ve traveled from home is Cambodia (I think).

    Have a great trip!

  8. Farrah says:

I’m glad you’re adding some fun in there too! Hope you have a great birthday and that your streak holds!

  9. Jenn says:

Oh, what a wonderful adventure! I would love to go down under one day!

Have you followed any of the “bearista” cup chaos with Starbucks! Absolutely insane!

I did snag an iced sugar cookie latte this week, but other than that, I’m diving into coffee at home.

  10. I didn’t realize you were in Australia! I hope all goes well with your Peloton streak (that’s quite impressive thus far), and you have a great birthday celebration.
