Coasting Through August

It felt like an “in between” week, but with nothing big on the calendar for this week, I’m not sure what it was in between! Things will definitely ramp up with work travel after Labor Day, but until then I’ll be coasting through the rest of August.

It has been a hot minute since I’ve been on a roller coaster!

Coasting Through August

One thing having me say “wheee!” this week was the weather! While our temperatures were still in summer territory, the low humidity made it feel so pleasant. I managed three weekday runs with Scooby which we both enjoyed.

Monday: 4.1 miles

My shirt reminds me that it was still humid!

Wednesday: 3.9 miles
Yes, I wish I’d checked my Garmin before I headed up my hill,
but I’ll tack on the “extra” 0.1 from Monday and call it even.

It was cooler, but I ended up soaked between
some light drizzle and unexpected lawn sprinklers.

Friday: 6.0 miles
Route planning perfection as I hit an even six right at my usual stopping point.

My favorite strength class this week was a 45 min full body program with Jess Sims. I was hesitant to take it because of the 8 minute EMOM finisher, but it was alternating sides of split squats + shoulder press and went by pretty quickly.

I took two different types of cycling classes with Hannah F.
Sunday I braved her 45 minute “progressive push” class.

After the warm-up, she cued blocks taking the resistance from harder to easier and the cadence from slower to faster.

You can tell I didn’t really follow the cadence cues — I was going faster during the first blocks and didn’t go much faster in the later blocks. 🤷‍♀️

Thursday I did a 20 milling Rolling Hills class after a short strength workout.

You can see the “hills” in my resistance graph—
you also can see where I dropped my water bottle and stopped to pick it up!

Saturday I took Scooby for a long walk before heading to hot yoga.

My favorite instructor is off the calendar for the next few weeks
so I am going to try a weekday class at the studio near my office.

A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.

Do you like roller coasters?

Nice work this week! We still had the humidity through most of the week, but at least it cooled off. This week is going to feel like fall and I’m ok with that. There’s still plenty of summer left!

That does sound like an “in between” kind of week – maybe August just has that vibe.
Nice job getting in those runs with Scooby, especially with the surprise drizzle and sprinklers thrown in. Love how you hit that perfect 6.0 right at your stopping point. So satisfying when the math and the route line up like that!

I’m sure Scooby loved those running miles with you! Does he mind the water or love it? Pablo hates getting wet.

Enjoy coasting into August before work gets crazier, again!

  4. I usually don’t like a long EMOM either unless I like the exercises. If it is burpees then I’m out! LOL. Will you try Rebecca’s or Andy’s new programs? I really found them both very challenging

  5. Melissa says:

Nice job with workouts this week! Glad to see that Scooby is doing well. It is definitely cooling off here, but I’m hoping that summer stays a little longer!

  6. Jenny says:

Yay for the Scooby runs! Sounds like you had a great week of runs and challenging Peloton workouts. Since school has started here, it didn’t feel like an “in between” week for me- but I know what you mean, I’ve had those too. You’re like “shouldn’t something else be happening?” Anyway, enjoy the coasting while you can!

Yeah, a few local school systems started, but the one in my neighborhood didn’t start yet. When it does, it’s a traffic issue more than anything else. 😉

  7. Yay for all those runs with Scooby!! I bet he loved all that time with his mommy 😉 Those long cycling EMOM classes sound tough!

  8. Jenn says:

    In between weeks are tough.

You had a lot of really great workouts and some great variety.

I do like roller coasters, but only the outside ones, and it’s kind of getting less and less as I get older.

Look at all those Scooby miles. I bet he is happy and you too.

As an adult, I stay away from roller coasters.
