I’ve got a hectic travel schedule for work this month, but I’m not going to let that keep me from going all in for Coretober. This is the 5th year I’ve played along with the Peloton Breakthrough Crew’s month-long focus on core workouts, and I’m here for it—wherever “here” is.
Fellow Pelo-peeps feel free to join in!
All In For Coretober
The first Breakthrough Crew Coretober was in October 2020–those dark days of the pandemic before covid vaccines—or even covid tests—were widely available. My husband and I started the month by visiting our daughter in Colorado while the weather was still nice enough for outdoor activities. I remember doing my Coretober workouts in our hotel room so I didn’t have to worry about encountering anyone else in the hotel gym—if it was even open.
2020 Coretober Classes
I wonder how many of Chase’s classes are still available?
I like the daily themes of this year’s challenge, but I am going to have to rearrange the Tuesday classes, because on each of the next two Tuesdays I have 7:30 am flights to Chicago with no time to myself until 10 pm. 😜
In other Peloton news, I had two milestones this week—both on Wednesday. I earned the 20K minute mark in a running class, and then took my 900th stretching class.
Weekly Run Down
Throughout the week I also went all in with the Peloton All For One classes—a music-focused series meant to have a “concert” vibe. This year most of the classes were 30 minutes long and the artists made guest appearances in some of them!
Sunday: Black Eyed Peas Strength + Coldplay Ride
I slept in on Sunday and did a long workout after church. Tunde’s class was a unique format with higher reps using 5-10 lb weights and very little rest.
Monday: Coldplay Run (Walk) + Kane Brown Strength + Kane Brown Run
I’m not a country music fan, but I know a few Kane Brown songs from the Peloton library. Kane was in studio for Logan’s strength class—and complaining along with the rest of us!—and Susie played some high-energy songs in her tread class.
I took JJ’s Coldplay run as a walk with Scooby.
Tuesday: Keith Urban Ride
I kicked off Coretober with Robin’s “benchmark” class—you’re supposed to keep track of how you do and take the class in a few weeks to assess your progress. I made it through the 1 min straight-arm side planks, but it was tough! After that, I hopped on Hannah C’s Keith Urban ride where he essentially performed an in-class concert.
Wednesday: Calvin Harris Run
The rain moved out earlier than expected, so I swapped my planned Nelly treadmill run with Alex for a Calvin Harris run with Olivia—I need to save Alex’s high-energy run for the tread.
Dark, dark, dark at dark o’clock!
Thursday: Stevie Nicks Strength + Billie Eilish Ride
I don’t usually take Olivia’s cycling classes—her reputation as a tiny terror is valid—but I braved her cueing for Bille Eilish, and it was worth the extra effort.
Friday: Stevie Nicks Walk (Run)
Since I’d taken JJ’s Coldplay Run as a walk, I figured I could take Matty’s Stevie Nicks Walk as a run. Scooby seemed anxious to get outside, so I saved my Coretober class for after my run.
Scooby chilled while I did my core class
Saturday: Coretober + Corepower Yoga
I’ve been doing a light workout before going to yoga, but this week I just did my Coretober class and then took care of business with my Cologuard kit. 😉
So, I made it through the first few days of Coretober 2024, but there are still a lot of All For One classes I want to take—that Nelly Run with Alex, Jess King’s Billie Eilish Walk + Run, Sam Yo’s Bruno Mars Ride …. I’m definitely motivated by good music.
A huge thank you to Deborah and Kim for hosting the Weekly Run Down link up.
What’s your least favorite core exercise? I dread mountain climbers and hollow holds.
any exercise besides running… lol
congrats on your Peloton milestones… you are so consistent with them.
I need to remember that there are some good free ones.
Hmm! Least favorite core exercise… possibly hollow holds. And anything that pulls on my neck. Maybe I’ll join you for Coretober- or, the rest of Coretober. I’ve already missed a day.
Sounds like you’re really enjoying your workouts! Good luck with your month of travel.
I remember your Coretober challenge during the Covid days! Nice that you’re keeping it going.
I had no idea what Cologuard was so I googled it… learnt something new today!
All the best for the busy weeks ahead!
I never really thought of mountain climbers as core and also not may favorite. Thanks for cluing me into the core challenge. Wonder if they get harder as the month goes on? Looks like a nice weather week ahead -enjoy!
Congrats on your milestones and good luck with Coretober. My least favorite core exercises are hollow holds and hollow rocks. I struggle with V-ups, but they are getting better!
Oooh I have a hard time with any core exercises that utilize my hips too much. don’t know the names of them, but ones where I sit with my feet in the air are so hard! My feet don’t want to go in the air and my hips burn! Good luck to you on Coretober. I’m all about the planking and really any 10 or 8 min ab video!
Thnx for the heads-up on the Coretober Challenge. My bad, I already missed a day (yesterday), but oh well. I’m gonna check-out that Tunde Black Eyed Peas class!
