Wearing Red At The February 2026 Coffee Date

Welcome to the February 2026 Ultimate Coffee Date link up. Did you know today is National Wear Red Day®? I’ll tell you all about it at today’s edition of the linkup Deborah and I host the first Friday of every month.

Going Red For Women

If we were having coffee, I would tell you the American Heart Association promotes National Wear Red Day® to raise awareness and support for women’s cardiovascular health. You can get involved by wearing red, sharing information and resources, and donating to support research and education.

I even got my bitmoji in on the fun!

If we were having coffee, I would remind you I’ve shared a lot of information on the risks of heart disease in women and the different warning signs for women, but this issue was new to me:

Spread the word—women need CPR too!

If we were having coffee, I’d tell you I just got my firm to join me in sponsoring the Lawyers Have Heart event in May again. Now I’ve got to figure out how to train to run it better than I did last year.

If we were having coffee, I would tell you about my first business trip of the year—to Boston earlier this week. I joked about who wants to go to Boston in February? But since I had the whole row to myself on my flights there and back, maybe it wasn’t such bad timing after all. 😉

If we were having coffee, I would ask why it’s so hard to find sparkling water at the airport. They have bottles of every brand and flavor of “flat” water, but usually only 16 oz cans of Bubly water—which are impractical for traveling. Once in a while I find a random restaurant selling bottles of Perrier or Pellegrino, but never in the main snack shops. 🤷‍♀️

I wonder what flavor they were out of?

If we were having coffee, I would tell you one thing that was easy to find on this trip was the closest Starbucks to my hotel. I didn’t even have to go outside!

I did hit up the gym first.

If we were having coffee, I’d ask if you have any plans for the Big Game. I know my son will be rooting for the Patriots but I don’t think they are favored to win.

Oh, you’re going to do the Lawyers have Heart 10k in May again! All the best with your training, Coco! I remember it was quite humid last year and a bit of a struggle. Let’s hope it will be a breeze this time round!

Seeing those bottles at the airport reminded me to ask: can you take water from home through the security checks now? Or is that still banned?

  2. Farrah says:

    Thanks for spreading awareness! <3

I'm glad you got all the seats to yourself, haha. I am too weak when it comes to the cold, so I wouldn't wanna be there in February if I could help it.

I'll be at a conference far away hopefully avoiding all the traffic during the game!

  3. Darlene S. Cardillo says:

Enjoy Boston. It’s fun to travel. They need to send you some place warm though.

A plus Starbucks in the hotel. Yes.

Congrats on the 10k. You and Scooby train well together, right?

Thanks for the reminder to wear red today. Nope on CPR.

  4. Debbie says:

Wow on the empty rows during your flights to and from Boston. That, plus a Starbucks in your hotel must have made you feel like you’d won the lottery!

Other than a lapse from 1980 to 1988, I’ve kept CPR certified since 1976. Oops, I didn’t think to pack anything red to wear today.

  5. Michelle says:

Glad you made it in and out of Boston without turning into a human popcicle LOL I just heard the weatherman say this is the coldest winter on record for this area in decades – and I believe it! Come back in the Spring – I’d love to venture into town to see you 🙂

You know I’ll be rooting for the Pats but I don’t have high expectations.

  6. Jenny says:

Gotta love a Starbucks in the hotel! We had that in Tampa, and my daughter and I were loving it.
Hmm, I wonder if I have a red hair clip? I wear a uniform to work so I can’t wear a red shirt. I might be able to find something though.
Interesting fact about women and CPR. I can see how men might be afraid to start pounding on a strange woman’s chest, but yes, women need CPR too! I’m certified but definitely need a refresher course.
    Go Seahawks! ; )

  7. Marcia says:

Boston in February sounds a lot like Chicago in February. Bone chilling. Glad you made the best of it and yay for a Starbucks on the premises.
I’ve been so self-absorbed with my surgery that I haven’t given any thought to the Superbowl. I don’t really care who wins. I’d bet on the Seahawks though.

  8. Thanks for sharing the important info on women and heart issues. this reminds me that I need to get recertified again for cpr. I have also noticed the lack of sparkling water at the airport. Who wants a can of bubbly? I usually just wait until I get on the flight for some. I can find Perrier sometimes. having your own row is always a win

  9. Boston in winter is rough! It’s been pretty cold in DC even. Nice amenities though 😉

Thanks for the heart health reminders! I just read that heart disease is now outpacing cancer for mortality in the US.

I’m rooting for the Seahawks – well against the Patriots 😉 And excited to see Bad Bunny. I’ve been learning the lyrics and enjoying the beats this week!

  10. I’m wearing red today!!! I think I’m the only one in the office who’s aware of Wear Red Day. No specific plans yet for the game, but I do hope to watch it (especially the commercials.

  11. Jenn says:

Oh, I know this is a cause so near and dear to your heart. Literally.

And I’m glad your Boston trip wasn’t miserable!

I don’t have plans for the game. I’m housesitting, so I’ll probably get some takeout and cuddle on the couch with the dogs. I’m very interested in Green Day. And I would prefer the Seahawks win for a variety of reasons. And of course, I’m in for Bad Bunny and the commercials!

  12. I have never flown and sat in a row with 2 empty seats – I am jealous! I remember my very first trip to Boston was on bus ride from Buffalo…in February! The weather was pretty miserable!

I never gave it much thought but yes, why are all sparkling waters in cans now vs. bottles? Maybe it’s for sustainability reasons to use less plastic?
